I'm very disappointed with the food and services provided in signal station cafe. I've ordered a antipesto for my lunch where the food supposed to have king prawn as what the menu shown. However, they served us with three little prawns instead of king prawn. When we asked the waitress why the prawn is not a king prawn, she replied with a bad attitude saying that since they have no king prawn, they served us three prawns, and then just walked away. I thought it's better to inform the customers in advance that they have no king prawn at the first place rather than just simply replaced the pricy king prawn with just three pieces of small prawns. It's about the quality, not about the quantity. Even the service is bad. When we walked into the cafe, we said that we would like to sit at the outdoor deck since we saw lots of empty seats, and they told us that the seats were booked. In actual fact there's empty seat and no one turn up. It would be great to have some training for customer service, these people don't know how to treat customers... People get there to enjoy the beautiful view, however the attitude of these unprofessional waiter and waitress can destroy the...

A lovely piece of colonial history with a nice cafe placed in the old Head Signal Master's Cottage! Like most colonial signal stations back in the 1800's, they were placed on the peaks of hills/mountains and allowed communication over long distances in a time before telephones or other forms of more modern communication existed. Nowadays, it's a great spot to explore Bicentennial Park from and the cafe provides pricey yet great tasting food/drink. If a single item in mentioned, it's big enough for it to be adequate for a main meal such as breakfast/lunch with my hot chocolate and lime curd doughnut complete with whipped cream more than enough for an imminent plasma donation! Feel free to get yourself to Mt Nelson Signal Station but please be aware that you'll likely need a car or the Metro public bus to get there. Those with mobility issues may struggle with the gravel path leading into the cottage. The views are rather nice from there if you prefer not to spend...

Extremely Slow Service .After 10 minutes waiting I had to go to the front counter to find out if it was table service or not .we asked for coffees and cakes . After receiving our luke warm coffees and drinking them, then waiting another 15minutes I went to the counter to cancel the cakes , the service attendant insisted it was nearly ready so we decided to wait a while longer , no extra coffees or drinks were offered . Hours after our visit with no other food consumed 2 of the 3 of our party were unwell . I would recommend avoiding going anywhere near this business ps . 3 cakes and 3...

The amazing thing about Hobart is that you can to a place like this by public bus for under $5. Now it is true that at some times and days services will only be once an hour but to get around so cheaply in such a small town this is quite reasonable! When this place was operating as a signal tower it must have felt a very long way out of town indeed! Now it is only a short drive and if you are up for some excitement you can go up the “bends” which is much like the most crooked street in the world in San Francisco ! The bus actually goes this way which is most exciting indeed. Nice spot !

Popped in for a drink and quick takeaway on a bus tour. Very disorganised no prices on the menu board so I ordered a milk shake a savoury muffin and a lemon lime curd donut. Presented beautifully $35 which I thought was high then I got my order..look at the photos, they both look lovely BUT I was seriously deflated by the taste and texture of the donut it was heavy and doughy like thick bread, I only ate a quarter and the flavour was missing big time. Very disappointed. There were no available seats inside.

Easy drive from central Hobart to get here, maybe 15mins with traffic. The station itself is a really lovely building and was open for us to have a look inside. Some excellent interpretation that explain the history of signals and their importance in Tasmania. Gardens could be better maintained and would enhance the experience. It's worth walking down to the lookout, which gives you a nice view over the Tasman bridge. The views were fantastic, the cafe was open and busy however we didn't go in.
