It is Da Vinci De-Coded & definitely exceptionally magnificent! More like a museum style exhibition display, greatly enhanced by the visual projections, accompanying classical music, quotes & info. Also showcases other Renaissance artists - Giotto, Massachio, Botticelli, Bellini, Raphael & Michaelangelo with a couple of local digital artists - re-played in a loop of more than 30 mins. You may have seen the Renaissance originals in situ but missed the details that are gloriously magnified here. While it is tempting to plonk yourself on the long recliners, best place to view all is up on the mezzanine level - use lift if stairs are not for you. Early mid-week visit would be the best to avoid the crowds. Cafe Medici located inside - is really good for a break & but book ahead for weekend visit. Be prepared to spend more than 2 hrs at least. Toilets are inside too & clean. Cloakroom is outside - free service, larger bags accepted. There are numerous interactive exhibits, the original folio collection from Da Vinci's Codex Atlanticus, detailed anatomical drawings & designs, a Renaissance studio room to try your artistic skills aided by video tutorial. Scan yourself & compare your torso to Vitruvian man. Learn a lot more about the famous Mona Lisa & The Last Supper mural. All included in entry tix except for the VR flyover of Florence which you can buy tix inside. Lume is cashless. Well researched, thought-provokingly curated & presented. Explores the myriad capabilities of Da Vinci - mostly discovered a few hundred years after his death including his resume writing skills (job seekers take note!). Revelatory as to the personality & psychology of the great genius. Da Vinci's cryptic quote - "Art is never finished, only abandoned" is a clue!

A thoroughly enjoyable visit to the "Monet and Friends" exhibit. I'm not sure how a true art buff would view this style of immersive art experience but I thought it both educational and entertaining. The overall combination of choreographed art projection, scent, music and some limited cgi provides quite a sensory overload. Plenty of room in the exhibition so easy to maintain covid-safe spacing. Many people seated on the floor and the seating provided is always at a premium. A bit more seating would be nice for us oldies. The projected "show" lasts about 45min but there are other activities that would keep you busy for double that and also a bar and tables nearly hidden at the back where you can get refreshment (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and some limited food snacks. We stayed for the Valentine's Day champagne and meal and were generally happy with the arrangements. The food was good, with drinks ordered via the QR code on your phone or by walking to the bar. Service sometimes seemed a bit shambolic but they got there in the end. We put any confusion down to it being a busy day, and the now usual covid related lack of staff of all types. I'm not sure whether restaurant style dining is always offered or whether this was particular to Valentine's Day. Don't forget to get your parking validated. If you decide to stay overnight the Novotel Hotel is literally right at the entrance to "The Lume" and parking is adjacent to that. It couldn't be any more convenient. This is the option that we took.

I recently visited The Lume in Melbourne to experience the Van Gogh exhibition, and it was truly one of the best museum experiences I’ve ever had. The entire exhibition was dynamic and immersive, offering a fresh way to engage with art and history. The main hall featured spacious seating areas and paths where visitors could absorb the fascinating story of Vincent van Gogh—his paintings, thoughts, and personal journey. Several additional rooms housed unique exhibits, including an interactive space where you could create your own artwork, a restaurant, and the mesmerizing Infinity Room. However, the highlight for me was the VR experience. This was only my second time using VR, the first being years ago, and I was completely blown away. The VR brought Van Gogh’s story to life in a way I hadn’t imagined possible, adding an incredible depth to the exhibition. Without it, the exhibition would still be fantastic, but the VR elevated it to a whole new level. Unfortunately, my VR experience was slightly marred because one of the lenses on my headset was blurred. Initially, I thought it was part of the design, but I later learned from the staff that it wasn’t. I regret not addressing this earlier, as I could only fully experience the VR through one eye. Despite this issue, the exhibition was unforgettable, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in art, history, or immersive experiences. Don’t miss this amazing tribute to Vincent van Gogh!

Attending "The Final Connection" with Alice Skye at The Lume Melbourne on February 04, 2024 was a captivating experience that seamlessly blended music and art into a mesmerizing spectacle. Alice Skye's ethereal vocals combined with the stunning visual projections created an immersive journey for the senses. The venue itself, The Lume Melbourne, provided the perfect backdrop with its innovative use of technology to transform the space into a dynamic canvas for artistic expression. Skye's performance was nothing short of enchanting, as she effortlessly commanded the stage with her soulful melodies and introspective lyrics. Each song felt like a deeply personal revelation, drawing the audience into her world with its raw emotion and authenticity. The visual component of the event was equally impressive, with The Lume's state-of-the-art projections enhancing the music and adding an extra layer of depth to the overall experience. The seamless integration of sound and light created a truly immersive atmosphere that left a lasting impression. Overall, "The Final Connection" with Alice Skye at The Lume Melbourne was a magical evening that showcased the power of art to transcend boundaries and connect people on a profound level. It's an experience not to be missed for anyone who appreciates the intersection of music and visual art.

Mesmerising experience. A must go for art lovers. Felt heavenly and did not wish to leave. Beautifully done -the ships in the paintings rocking, wind sounded, conversation tapes playing in the backdrop of any paintings of social scenes like bars/ eateries or a market place, ripples created in water pairings and the breezy tree beaches created on canvas- all conspire in unison to enchant the viewers. One hour plus of this, the hall inside is huge, high walls , a sit down cafeteria too to view from for a more expensive ticket. Few benches inside if one wants to sit else mostly people are comfortable on the floor and it was hardly crowded. The water lilies pond painting is recreated with an artificial pond with a bridge on top- all inside a frame and is a must photo spot for memory. Another room explains a little history of Monet and his painter friends and shows their works. A third room had mirrors and artificial flowers arranged in a terrace form to again recreate ‘ the water lilies’ in a different way. Accessible entrance and exits, washrooms inside the hall itself too. Exit is through a souvenir shop with lots of merchandise to buy including candles, calendars mugs, aprons, trays, postcards, crochet toys, magnets, pens, puzzles, books and of course pictures of the original paintings. Pictures attached.

I don't know what to say here that anyone else hasn't already said. It's great. It's fantastic. It's very cool. It's special. There's pretty much nothing negative to say about it. IF there was to be a negative, I'd just wish I could say that I wish there was a special session or two during the day for little kids. There are times where people are just so nice and quiet because it's awe inspiring, and then there are little kids screaming and crying. I understand it's for everyone and little kids get tired or are having fun, but the atmosphere is slightly tarnished during those moments. With that said, you have to visit. BUT ... word of warning ... DON'T purchase parking with your tickets if buying online. I prepaid parking, and yet was STILL charged an extra $42 when exiting the building. I will fight this to the end, but I won't let it ruin what was a beautiful experience. You have to visit. It's a lot of fun and it's moving and enjoyable. I would also maybe suggest trying to snag a seat if you're someone that gets dizzy on occasion. I don't, but there was a few times here and there where the imagery was moving quickly and with it coming at all angles, it made me feel quite dizzy. Still in all, a lot of fun and a great experience.
