Dopo il corso Vittorio Emanuele con i negozi, a Piazza Sedile di Portanova ci inoltriamo per via Mercanti nel cuore del bel centro storico con il Duomo e molti altri palazzi importanti, fino a Piazza Lago Campo per uscire a Santa Lucia di fronte al Palazzo di Città e la Prefettura. Attraversando l’isolato si spunta sul Lungomare , proprio dove è stato di recente piazzato l’orribile Crescent di un archistar (Bofil) che lo ha copiato, imbruttendolo, da John Wood, architetto inglese ottocentesco. Meno ingombrante e molto più interessante la Stazione Marittima di Zaha Hadid con le sue forme sinuose che ricordano un cetaceo spiaggiato. Da ultimo a questi due edifici si affiancano enormi navi da crociera che impediscono il godimento dello spettacolo della costiera amalfitana cittadini e visitatori stessi.
