My husband and I had four nights in Kaikoura. The drive up from Christchurch was very enjoyable with a few short stops for roadworks. We were amazed at all the engineering that had gone into replacing road, rail and enormous areas of mountainside that have been retained with wire mesh to stop future falls by the earthquake of three years ago. The weather was fine and we visited most areas of interest including a rugby game on Saturday afternoon.

They open at 10 am which was bit of an inconvenient to us. We needed some quick information but the i-site was closed. There is lot of parking available. You can book tickets for whale watching at the beach i-site (According to the advertisement outside).

Many thanks for i-SITE. A Chinese lady named Ivy has offered so many information and tips for us. She is amazing and helpful. Her help makes our trip more colorful and easier. We will remember this lovely town in our New Zealand travelling.

Went to this i-Site on a Tuesday afternoon, instead of getting a warm welcome, the lady (older and sounded French) was very rude to us. Instead of offering suggestions of things to do like all i-Sites, we had to ask all the questions. If we didn't ask, she wouldn't have told us what to do. Asked her whether there is anything to do in the rainy cloudy weather, she look at us in disbelief and told us, what weather? Never been so put off with her customer service.

At the end of the day, you are representing your town and your country, don't treat...

So disappointing, went in to find out about mountain biking tracks. The lady confirmed which way to the St.James track entrance, and said it was best to drive (she didn’t even ask what sort of car I had). When we went there in a 4-wheel drive the roads were closed and quite treacherous, a local told us the roads were tricky even for a 4wd and she suggested another route which also happened to be closed. I-site sort it out! How can you send people into tracks without knowing the access facts - people are relying on you for safety and good...

We got bumped off our sailing that we booked 5 mths ago, because the Kaikoura Whale watch people got a newer booking for 33 person booking, so they bumped us and other 2 person groups, for the 33 people because they get more money from them on 1 sailing. They offered us the next day but we had to move on from kaikoura the next day. Plus I will not encourage people I know to do the Whale watch in Kaikoura. I would certainly not spend my money st Kaikoura Whale watch now - EVER. That attitude is bad for...
