Macedonian King ALAXENDER THE GREAT Crossed Indus River From Here To Invade Hind(Indo Pak). Its an archaeological museum housing antiquity from the site it is built on and sites around. Alexander the great camped here before crossing Indus river. It has been the site of the capital city of ancient Gandhara during Odi Shahi (generally known as Hindu Shahis). The museum represent materials from Kushanas to Mughal periods excavated here. An excavation trench is in its courtyard where structures can be seen in the sections. A classical Corinthian pillar is placed in its courtyard to commemorate the Alexander's camp and river crossing from here.

One of the best and well kept museums (after the Swat museum) I have been to lately was the Hund museum in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. I stayed in their guest house b/w 30th Dec to 1st Jan 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed the cold weather by the River Indus along with the Pakhtun hospitality. Enjoyed the local dish called 'Katawa', Jawar ki roti, Sarsoun ka saag along with the Chappal kebabs and Fish BBQ. Simply outclass :)

Hund is a small village on the bank of the Indus. Having a rich heritage and historical importance, there is still some remains of an ancient forte are visible. The area have a great link to the Gandhara civilization more than four thousand years ago. The Afghans,Turks, Mughals used it as a passage to India. It was the third centre of learning at Ashok times. In 1992 it had a large number of the Budha's trees(Barr and peepal in local dialect). It is supposed that hund may be the birth place of the Budha. It had a lot number of Persian wheels. Some still be seen. The museum is and the river resort are still the great attractions of the place. The remains of a great number of tombs were found in 1994 now converted into fields were also a sign of great warships and fighting. The tomb of Abdul Rahim Khan e Khanan is situated here although it is still to be verified because the relating the same are also found in India. An historical story of the Wazer Fateh Khan of the Afghanistan is also related to Hund. The story of Balkay and Kadri is also related to this place. ...With best wishes...

Beautiful museum without any rush of public just on the river bank of river Indus. The place from where Alexander crossed the Indus. At hund, Indus is shallower then the rest of area. Alexander crossed his army at this point. You will see a large pillar which shows sign of Greek development.

In this museum all the status are originally stone. Thousand of years old stone age objects are here. If I compare Taxilla Museum with Hund museum, Taxilla is rubbish because all the precious and original articles are stolen from Taxilla. However original articles are here in Hund museum.

Every body should be going there with kids to have a...
