I was mostly satisfied with the work done in the past by Apple Pie repair in Alexandria. I assumed that they were licensed by Apple to work on iPhones. I was wrong. I no longer trust them to make repairs on my iPhone. I brought it in last week to replace the battery. It did not take long and it seemed to work when they brought it to me. But, when I got home, it eventually became clear that something was seriously wrong. The phone kept turning off after about 3 minutes. Every time it loses text that I was working on. Every time I need to restart and re-enter the pin. Even phone calls are cut short after a minute or two. The medical devices linked to it by Bluetooth go dark. Google Maps directions go dark while I drive.
Apple Pie is closed on weekends (!). So I went to Best Buy, which is a licensed Apple repair facility.
I was told that they were not allowed to work on iPhones if they were serviced with non-Apple components.
So, I went back to Apple Pie on Monday. I explained the problems I had with my phone since they replaced the battery. They took my phone in the back, and came out with the verdict that the battery they had installed was defective. (Why they had not checked it BEFORE they installed it was not explained.) But I was relieved and said, “so go ahead and replace it!” They said it was not in stock, they would need to order it. And it would be in by the end of the week.
So, I spend lots of time restarting and logging back in….about every 3 minutes. Very frustrating!
The worst thing is that when I brought the phone in, it was working well. The only thing I wanted was a battery that would last a whole day. I hope my iPhone is not permanently damaged. It was really...
Read more(NOTE: Please read all the way to the end for the resolution of this isaue.) They repaired my iPad screen adequately enough. However my wifi was not working well after the repair, which led me to suspect that the WiFi antenna may have been damaged during the screen replacement. I contacted them and they suggested resetting the network settings and if that didn't work, to bring it back in for them to look at. I delayed bringing it back, suffering through the wifi issues and finally brought it back nearly a year later. I acknowledged a lot of time had passed and offered to pay for the WiFi antenna repair, but they wouldn't even look at it. I prefer to do business with local vendors but I cannot in good conscience return to Apple Pie Repair nor recommend them.
EDIT: Fourteen minutes after I messaged Apple Pie with my displeasure they contacted me to apologize for the miscommunication and said the young lady at the front desk was mistaken, that they would indeed look at my ipad and asked me to bring it back. I brought it back this afternoon and the manager apologized for the miscommunication and acknowledged our previous communication. She accepted the iPad back and said it would be repaired under warranty. I reminded her that's not what I was looking for, that even though I had reported the problem very early on, due to my delay in bringing it back in that I was expecting to pay for the repair, but she insisted that due to the miscommunication they would make it right. I'm VERY pleased with their response and am modifying the number of stars to reflect the excellent...
Read moreSo today I went into Apple Pie to get my iPhone fix because the screen has been causing issues and the multi touch has been at crazy, I previously had it fix in March of 2017 at Apple Pie before because of this same issue, so I figured because it had started giving me the same problems I could get it fix again because it was still under warranty. As I went I to the store and spoke with the employee about my issues, he stated that because my screen had a tiny crack and it was slight bent that my warranty was voided. I then stated that these are the issues besides the millimeter screen crack, that the iPhone 6 Plus experience, he then tells me, he just the front desk guy and not the manager, so I decided not to argue or state my case in further. I have spent several hundred dollars at Apple Pie Repair over the years and as a loyal customer I expect better then that, I guess it better to void a warranty over a crack then to at-lease meet a loyal customer half way, so I will no longer be doing services nor recommending Apple Pie Repair to any of my family or friends, because if your phone or device has the slightest of damage they will not consider repairs even if it's...
