CONSTANTLY TRAVELING TOWARDS THE SUN- boring RULES- you can't cross lines, but there is no space to put any tape without crossing lines. funny that the name is this piece downfall. The rules should be updated as the art changes to adapt to viewers present experiences. It's an absurd that no one has consider this yet. SEWING MACHINE ORCHESTRA- This piece deserves a sound proof room and a better location. It's hidden behind curtains and its muffled by the sound of the ARC. It shouldn't also have a sign saying "if the machines are not playing hang on because the show is about to start. It should also have a huge screen showing the progressive lines of the sound each machine makes to give the viewer a better immersive experience. ARC- also needs a sound proof room. It also needs a tripod with a camera facing in making a constant Timelapse or fast-moving video that viewers can download FOR FREE after the show. You guys really don't know how to get people to be interested in what you are showing. SWEET SPOT- nothing immersive about this. can't touch it, can't step on it. That's just art. Don't call it an immersive experience and just show art. Call it a, art show. ELI - Really? a video? an entire area dedicated to a video? Terrible. This should be showing at the bar so people can watch and drink or while they rest. So disappointing. Watching a video is not an immersive experience either!!! BLOOMS- cool, fun visuals, but you need more pieces then only 3 to make it count. You also should have a couple pieces where viewers can actually spin the base or move it around. Watching it without being able to touch it at all is ALSO NOT IMMERSIVE, it's just art. BODY PAINT- This is the coolest piece you got. That says a lot. HUMAN STUDY- This is actually really cool, but after it was done with the person that was being draw, they simply cleared the area and we waited OVER 30 MINS and it was just closed with a sign to wait. Also a joke. MICROMONUMENTAL MAPPING, THE ESSENCE OF CREATION- Really? what a joke.
Overall your advertising promotes a much cooler place than this really is. Learn something from Meow Wolf. You guys are a joke next to that. Don't call it an immersive experience when most of what you show can't be touch and have nothing about immersive. That's just art. You need someone that has an artistic mind to manage the place and adapt each individual piece to give a better experience. Very disappointing. In total my family spent close to $100 for this and we all agree that it wasn't worth it and I had to apologize for being the one that...
Read moreI really liked the exhibits here, and I wanted to give it a perfect score because my kids are the pickiest kids in the world lol and they were entertained for about 3 hours. Every time we headed for the door they ran back to get one last look at something. The facility was clean too, including the bathrooms, but the way the bathrooms were set up made me nervous because they were all gender, and if you’re a lady and forget to lock the main door a man could walk in and use the stall next to you or possibly startle you coming in for example. Made me nervous so I locked the door, but I didn’t like to since there were at least 6 stalls and I didn’t want to prevent others from using it. The other all gender bathroom actually had stalls and there were urinals in the open. It may be scary for a man as well if he’s using the urinal and a little girl walks in to ise the bathroom it could be weird if the door isn’t locked because there are a few stalls and urinals in there. Anyway, I thought this place overall was pretty interesting and I recommend it for teens especially. I went with my two teens and 8 year old. Other than that, it was a nice place. There is a fee as well. We paid approximately $120 to get in and they sold mocktails for about $7-10 and chips at the counter inside. I liked the upstairs exhibits better so don’t leave without seeing that area. I think this is probably like a one time thing though for us because we saw everything and to see it again may or may not be cool again for the teens. It may be for my 8 year old, but not for my teens. Check it out though. I think you’ll enjoy, and be sure to sign waivers online and get your tickets online. They go by a timed schedule to go in but once in you can stay as long...
Read moreThis is a fun space in an out of the way and unexpected place in Austin and well worth a visit. The criticism is the cost of the ticket. If you're not an art lover, yep. I see that. However, if you enjoy a little thoughtful date night and immersive experiences and savoring time, then I found this gallery/museum to be a very enjoyable night out with my husband. We took about two hours to go through what I think amounted to a dozen or so large pieces. I thought the space way less pretentious than the Blanton but more enjoyable. More accessible on purpose. A very mild adult version of Meow Wolf? The curation was very well done. Lots of different pieces and I really liked the included digital app guide with explanations for free about each art piece. Honestly I did the math and for the cost of a ticket I hope they are getting busses of people in to keep it open. I felt a little badly I didn't buy a cocktail to support but I am drinking very little these days. Lol. It's a big space in a cheaper rent part of town but it's still something to have four staff on, on a Friday night with only a few dozen folks walking through. Great idea and thank you to the owners for bringing a really nice and unusual, fresh way to get into art for the city. Definitely visit! I only give it four stars because I am spoiled for art museum and gallery experiences around the globe, and this is a smaller visit time for a similar ticket price to many world class places I've been fortunate to visit. But, without a heavily subsidized art ticket by a local government the way other places benefit from, the cost for Wonder Spaces is actually a bargain for what it probably costs to provide us all entry. Thank you for a really good...
