We finally made the trip from LA to Bakersfield to visit Buck Owen's Crystal Palace for Father's Day brunch. It was kind of a last minute idea, so we didn't have reservations. It did take quite a while, but they do have coffee, water and iced tea while you wait. The lesson here is... definitely make reservations. That's on me. Make sure you ask for a table, not the bar-like seating. Also, be aware that there is a second level as well where you climb 25 steps. It's fine... but that's a detail that is pretty relevant to some. The price at $36 was a bit excessive. I had read online it was $24 and other things that said $30 for special occasions, so the extra amount added up. I wish they put it on their website but I couldn't find that anywhere. So the value kind knocked a star off. The ambiance is outstanding! It's very cool. It's even cooler if you're a Buck Owens fan or Country music fan (which I'm not) - but even I thought the ambiance was pretty awesome. They have a full sized car behind the bar and the whole place is designed like something you're more likely to find in Disney World. There are Buck Owen artifacts and memorabilia everywhere. It's just a very unique, (I'll say it...) STRANGE place... but that in itself is worth the visit! The staff were all very friendly and for such a busy day like Father's Day, I thought they did a good job of staffing. Our waitress was lovely. The food was alright. Nothing to write home about... but as a Keto person, there was enough variety to get me full. But it's definitely not incredibly high quality. It was fine. Given its one of a kind atmosphere... I highly suggest you try this at least once! If you're in LA, make a day of it! Visit the two Antique Malls nearby - One is in an old Woolworths building that still has that facade and working luncheonette. The other, Merry Go Round Antiques, has an old mine shaft in the basement! There are plenty of things to do - Visit the Kern County Museum, The Living Museum (a zoo), or the Natural History Museum (which we haven't been to yet). There's plenty of other cool things too!

A place you can feel like you’re having dinner in an old Western. They have live music performances up on stage and for those of you who know your country line dances, the dance floor will help you knock some dust of the old boots. The live sound and lighting was professional, and on top of things throughout the production. The raffle grand prize was a signed guitar by Joey Kuntz. Food was delicious and service was fast and friendly. All the charm in California’s Central Valley is felt at this place! A place to take the whole family to enjoy the story this place tells. Buck Owens’ story is a fascinating one. Learn more about it on buckowens.com or I also found The High Gain podcast by hosts Ed Peterson and John Kieltyka tell barely credible stories about guitars, randomly describing the people, places and events surrounding the birth of each instrument—-their episode 126 The Harmony Buck Owens American

Okay. This was a fantastic venue! This place has all the elements of greatness for sure! Buck Ownens was a great singer, and he left behind a great restaurant. This place is a stop off for all up and coming country singers. This is also the Place that Garth proposed to Trisha... [Garth alert]. Food was above and beyond expectations! They served the best baby back ribs of any I have ever had! Service was good, and the waitress was nice. Can't wait for a next time!

Been to Crystal Palace for a concert and previous event but never for New Years until now. It was worth all the hype and more!! Prime rib dinner was amazing, the servers who worked instead of party, were great!! The entertainment, while not huge names, got it going on they had the place on their feet! We had a blast, so much fun!! Highly recommend it whether for New Year's or a concert, or just for a night out, Go!!! You Won't be disappointed!! Especially if it sells, we don't know how much longer we'll have this Bakersfield staple around! Hopefully whoever buys it, will keep Buck Owens dream going, it would be a real shame to see it go!

☀️ Buck Owens' Crystal Palace Made it back to Bakersfield! The Crystal Palace is for sale, hopefully it will remain open, but there is a chance it will be closed for good soon. The idea for the Buck Owens Crystal Palace originated in the mid-1980s. Buck spent most of his early career performing in small, smoke-filled bars and honky-tonks around the country. He wanted a high-class place for country-western music to be performed. Buck also wanted a place where he could "be himself". There is a museum with numerous memorabilia throughout his career. Live music and great food. And of course the buck-mobile hanging behind the bar. Once made for Elvis, Buck used it in The Streets of Bakersfield video.
