While we are very excited to have a park near us that welcomes the horses as well as the bikers and hikers we are sadly disappointed in the parking. It is extremely difficult to park in the horse designated area as single cars park randomly in there and take up the length leaving no room for the trailer and truck. We had to leave one time as all the cars had randomly parked in the parking so there was long spots open. We went significantly early and did get parking the next time to only come back and find cars parked so close we could not get our horses tied to the trailer to remove our saddles. They parked directly in front of us so we had to back out only to find a vehicle parked sideways on the road part behind us. It was very difficult to get out. Those of you complaining about the manure...I get it but it does dry up and blow away doing not harm to nature. UNLIKE the 15 water bottles we found thrown out along the trails... Sadly we may not utilize the park further as it is to much to drive there and find we cant get in or out. Pictures available of our being parked in if any one...

The Good. Sites are all paved and fairly level. Fire ring and picnic table included. Located close to the bathrooms. Large trash bin located south of restrooms. Hiking is very good.
The Bad. This place is busy! Local youth like to hang out here. For fun they will stuff the restroom flush toilet with toilet paper. Hikers are coming and going all hours. That includes 4am, with bright lights that dance across your RV windows. Some car campers sneak in and out of the camp to avoid payment. Verizon cell service not great unless one climbs to a higher altitude on one of the trails.
Reason for three stars. Garbages full and the bathroom stinks like urine. Area isn’t managed well. It appears that the Parks Dept. is understaffed for this and other facilities they manage. Not a put...
Read moreWe went for star gazing. It was amazing! There was an orator with a laser to point out different constellations, how to use the free star chart, and share lots of knowledge. They displayed some space rocks to view and information about them. Telescopes were set up to view different plants, constellations, and galaxies. There was some things you could buy like shirts, pictures, glow sticks for kids, snacks, etc. They even had a froyo truck so you can purchase froyo. I recommend bringing a chair. All the astronomers were very knowledgeable and very helpful. They took their time to explain what you were seeing and made sure you saw what was in the telescope. They were excited to share their knowledge. Great for a date night or family night! We will be going next time they are in town again!!! Posted a few pictures of the space rocks. You'll need to go to view the rest and learn about them....
