This is a converted factory of some type with a functioning freight elevator and an eclectic collection of artist's studios, galleries, and related or similar organizations. It's clean, well lit, and often smells gently of incense. There's a Buddhist temple on the fourth floor, a jewelry maker of some kind in the basement, with multiple galleries and studios in the intervening floors. If you're interested in exploring the artists in Rochester there's some value in stopping in here to browse any open galleries and see who or what is available. If you want to explore or expand your own artistic talents there seems to be some opportunities for that here, as well. Building is really interesting renovated old Industrial Factory (they used to make soda syrup). Would get four and a half Stars if I could, only very minor issues with the freight elevator feeling uncomfortable (yes I am a scaredy cat) and not being able to tell which vendors are participating in there Friday and Saturday sales (it's not a shopping mall the stores are open when the artists want to open their stores), but I came on a second Saturday so maybe it's more open on a first Friday...

I attended First Friday at the Hungerford, and about a third of the galleries were open for viewing. There were many different artists using different mediums. Some galleries had snacks and wine. Some were selling their wares (with vastly varying prices). It was a fun thing to do on a Friday night. Parking is allowed at the Hungerford Parking Lot, Visions Federal Credit Union (after 6 pm), Rochester Greenovation, street parking on Goodman St., or a parking garage...
