Learn moreMixed experience. The tubing run itself is great. Perfect speed for kids and the snow tubes are all in good shape. We visited on a Friday AM and it was not crowded with minimal wait times. Carpet to get to the top is slow and the fencing is flimsy but works fine and the automatic ticket checker is a nice feature. It's not a cheap outing (~$40/person for 1.5 hours). I would say it's roughly the the same experience as wintergreen except the staff at wintergreen is significantly better. Some details below, but I hope they just had an off day and normally are fine.
There was a ton of confusion and yelling at the top while the staff argued about releasing waves of people, how to have the tandem tubes connected, and where to wait. At times the arguing ground things to a halt while we all waited for them to finish. Normally this would be funny workplace dysfunction to watch but it got old quickly. The staff also started cutting to the front of the lines to ride down themselves ("looks fun today I want to go") which made it tough to go at same time as rest of group. In response to pointing this out we were told we could find another lane at the far end of the hill. Given that wintergreen is about the same cost, drive time, and hill I would probably only come back here if I happened to be across the street, someone handed me a ticket and I couldn't think of...
Read morePlace was booked over 10 days out before my trip. Realized that it was right next to my condo, so I walked over and asked if they had any cancellations. They informed me that there had just been a large cancellation and provided me with 4 tickets for my family. Thrilled was an understatement!!!
The lift took a while to get used to for my 4 and 5 year old's, but by the second go, it was smooth sailing. I was terrified when it was actually time to go down the hill. It looked much higher and steeper when you're up there. Lol. On my first go, I went down and the corner of my boot hit the snow causing me to spin like crazy. I had to be going over 100 mph! Each go, I somehow went faster and faster. They ended up putting more matts down to slow you down. Twice I made it all the way to the blue wall. Talk about fun but terrifying! Lol. I thought I was just going to fly right off the first dip and continue through the air. Thankfully, I did not. I enjoyed 4 more rides with my family and we left 30 minutes before our end time.
All in all, it was a thrilling experience. We look forward...
Read moreWent to Massanutten today and had an unusual experience. I say unusual because of the ethic these workers and management had. In 95 degree heat and a visibly understaffed personal, everyone seemed to make the best of what they had. Everyone was positive even with the unruly customers. I even saw the manager guy with glasses hold it all together dealing with this one group of unruly people who seemed to be unaware of the circumstances. Personally, in that environment I would have lost my cool. They had kids crying, people getting overheated and so on but with so much going on man it just made me appreciate them being here to perform and providing us with a wonderful experience. Yeah the line did take long today, but one staff member that was dressed kind of funny kept reassuring and apologizing to us and the people waiting in line letting us know that its not usually like this. Well I can tell! With how fast they were moving in this heat imagine how much better it gets on a normal day. All in all, my family had a great time either way and this place is still as amazing as when...
