It pains me to write this review, as I really love this place, but it does need some work. Letâs start with the lift. Extremely. Slow. It doesnât help that thereâs two lifts you need to get on if you want to ride anything other than the green trails. Iâve heard that they may be getting a faster lift soon, but as of the last time I went it was exceptionally slow. Now for the trails. The bottom features some green trails (and one technically âblueâ trail). Theyâre fine for beginners or kids but not something youâd wanna ride if youâre a more advanced rider. For the top trails thereâs 2 blues and two double blacks. In 2020, Crunchy and Creamy (the two blues) were in serious disarray as they had not been maintained too well. Thankfully, Crunchy was completely revamped and is now fairly fun to ride. Creamy, on the other hand, was not (as of 2021). Iâve heard theyâre resurfacing that trail as well for the 2022 season, so Iâll update this review accordingly. The first double black (World Cup) is some raw, single-tracky tech that is pretty good if thatâs what youâre into. All or Nutten, the other double black, is a bit wider and steeper; more of a downhill race track. Itâs very challenging, in fact, starkly more difficult compared to the other trails there. That leads into my next point which is progression. Usually bike parks will have some progression between the greens/blues/blacks/double blacks (and reds if applicable). Massanutten does not. Iâd really only go here if youâre either a beginner and just want to stick to the bottom trails, or an experienced rider who wants to tackle the double black tech trails. As a side note, Iâd like to add that the employees there are awesome. Always really involved, friendly, passionate, and helpful. Apart from that, there isnât...
Read morePros - Parking was great! Just a short bike ride over a bridge right to the first lift. MTB staff were very helpful and friendly. Grounds are well kept and beautiful. And there was a really cool Dobson fly on the pole outside the restaurant we had lunch at đ
Cons - There are two lifts which were really slow. It wasnât busy at all. I can only imagine what the wait is like when it gets busy. We rode one green trail at the bottom then decided to stay at the top and rode those trails. The bike carriers on the lift are fender destroyers! Make sure to take your front fender off or it will be ripped off! Your bikes hang vertically and swing out quite violently when it leaves the loading area. Thereâs one pricey restaurant open with a huge outdoor deck. Paid 15.50 for a chicken sandwich and 4.00 for one soda. There is also no bike rack to put your bikes in.
Unfortunately, we only got to ride 2 1/2 trails. Although it was nice and sunny, There was lightning within a 15 mile radius and the lifts never re-opened. Didnât get a chance to ride the techy black trails. Donât think we will be visiting this DH park again but I think itâs worth trying it out if youâre in the area. Check the weather...
Read moreJust rode there yesterday. The Crunchy trail was just resurfaced and is the best trail at the park. The peanut trail is a great trail at the bottom of the mountain for beginners. The creamy trail is nice at the top of the mountain but as you go down gets practically unrideable. Tread carefully as there are loose rocks all over the lips of the jumps and the landings are like rock gardens.
The staff is amazing. The mountain bike patrol are a great group of guys who know the park well and will give trail recommendations.
I did not feel like the lifts were as slow as I read. You share lifts with the site seers who are mostly a much older, slower bunch and the lifts slow down for them so they donât fall. On the lift you will see deer, ground hogs, fox and other wildlife.
What I also like is food and drink at the resort are very reasonably priced. I didnât feel like they were price gouging or anything...
