A Heartfelt Moment of Gratitude Over the course of my recent three-day stay, I experienced something that far exceeded my expectations—genuine compassion, excellence, and humanity in one of life’s more vulnerable moments. Hospitals often receive criticism, but my experience was, quite honestly, a gift during a time I truly needed care, both physically and emotionally. From the moment we arrived at the ER, every interaction reflected professionalism and kindness—from the team members who carefully transported me in a wheelchair, to those who ensured my room remained clean and comfortable. Every role was fulfilled with dignity and care. Even members of hospital leadership, including Mandy Petre, made the effort to stop by and check in personally. Whether it was the nurses administering medications, the techs conducting EKGs and oxygen checks, or those drawing labs—all brought a calm presence and clear communication that made a world of difference. If you've ever stayed in a hospital, you understand how overwhelming it can be. But at Rock Regional, it felt different. The culture they’ve built is something truly special—a team that not only performs at a high level but deeply cares for the people they serve. When someone checks in with you every hour, day and night, it goes beyond procedure—it shows heart. To Dr. Womack and the entire Rock Regional Hospital team: please know how profoundly grateful I am. Your commitment and compassion meant more than I can express in words. You are seen, appreciated, and respected—for all you do and for who you are. Thank you. Truly.

Extremely nice and newly built hospital. The entire staff were all very friendly and helpful our entire 4 days during surgery and recovery. Cafe on the main level was very good and the prices are low. Breakfast omlette with ham , bacon, cheese and salsa was made fresh for me and it was only $2.80. Nurses and Doctors care was very impressive , checking on us very frequently to make sure we were feeling good and checking to see if we needed anything at all. The waiting room for the family was very warming and welcoming with plenty of comfy chairs and fresh coffee the whole time

First I want to start by saying I absolutely hate being inside a hospital; it makes my skin crawl. No offense intended to anyone/any place. I accompanied my wife to an out-patient surgical procedure today. The entire experience was outstanding. The facility is very nice, and more importantly, very clean. EVERYONE was nice, (this is rarely the case for me in hospitals); no arrogant/pompous attitudes, no impatient staff, everyone was super nice, and caring. And being in our home town of Derby, and not having to drive to Wichita was an added bonus. Highly recommend.

I am conflicted with this review because Dr. Roth has a great attitude, and was attentive. I try not to go to hospitals, doctors, etc; not only because I'm an uninsured American but because I'm generally healthy. I don't always agree that a pill will solve everything in life. I had no choice but to go get checked out after two days of not being able to walk. I was fairly sure it was kidney stones based off the muscle spasms in my back but the leg was not the normal kidney stone issue so I was kind of afraid and in the worst pain I'd felt since giving birth to any of my three boys.

Dr. Roth knew instantly that I had a back injury and administered a steroid injection to relieve some of the tension. I was grateful for her not just brushing me off until I got the bill this week! I'm being charged over $1400 for the visit and the only test that was done was a urine test!

The injections were a total of $5, and I was sent home with a prescription for less than a week's worth of medicine. The only actual pain medicine I was given was Aleve and a minimal quantity (10) of a muscle relaxer to use when I got home. It felt like maybe they thought I was a pill chaser when in actuality I'm against all pharmaceuticals but that day I'd have probably been thankful for something to just knock me out at night. The papers they print for you to take home clearly state that it would be 4-6 weeks before it was healed and that was a maybe since I wasn't going to be doing physical therapy.

I stated that I had no primary doctor due to not being insured so one would think that whoever was seeing patients would take that into consideration when writing the prescription to take home. Especially if they are aware that they're going to send an uninsured person a bill with a total like they did! I can't imagine what the bill would've been had they ran an MRI or a CAT scan since the injury that I have is linked to neurological issues, not just a regular back injury! Then to top it off, I made a $50 payment that day and it doesn't even show on either bill!

I have fairly good credit but probably won't for too much longer as there is no way I can come up with that kind of money right now! Our household's income was cut by half last June by being forced into the shared work program through unemployment instead of being totally laid off and the hours still haven't been brought back to full time. We're going on one year of part time hours and have yet to receive any stimulus money from any of the three payments the government has supposedly sent out to people! My family doesn't get any handouts, nor do we want any but it seems like this bill is extreme considering I still have no real answers. I don't know if it's something that is going to heal on its own or if it's bigger than that.

Now I'm dealing with the intermittent back pain that I've never had before in my life! Some days I can walk and move and other days I wake up with a left leg that feels like it's shorter than the right and feels like a knife is being jabbed into my hip and lower back when I try to walk. I have a family history of the deterioration of the mylen coating on the spine. I had an unexplained fall two years ago on Christmas Day walking into the Quick Trip that would be explainable if the mylen coating is deteriorating. There is no way for me to go see a specialist to determine if that's happening or not, as specialists don't see patients without insurance to bill or the costs paid up front.

I feel like for the bill they expect me to pay they should've done some scans of my spine to make sure of the diagnosis I was given that day. I realize that Dr. Roth only works for the hospital and most likely has strict rules about testing on uninsured patients. I understand how the medical system in America works: uninsured people don't get the same care as insured people. I watched my mother go blind from rare, early onset cataracts all because she had no insurance to remove them. It doesn't make it right just because it's common...

First visit here was for a breakout of hives, verified it was an allergic reaction. The check-in ladies were amazing and so sweet. A doctor and nurse saw me within a few minutes, asked questions, answered questions, and got me on my way with meds to help. Everyone I came in contact with today was so professional and nice. Thank you Rock Regional! 💕 ——— 05/21-22 I’m updating this with my second experience with rock regional. I’m updating because the difference between my first trip and second trip were night and day differences.

I continued to experience breaking out in mass hives, each time getting worse. I’ve removed things from my house, switched detergents, logged foods and drinks, kept note of what I touched throughout the day. The saga of finding out what I’m reacting to has been absolutely frustrating and absurd.

The nurse who got us into a room was nice, loved her, great bedside manner and really wanted to help however she could. No complaints there.

The bad experience starts when the doctor walked into the room. He kept his distance the entire time and acted like I was contagious, while telling me it’s hives.

He pointed out my husband’s dry skin and eczema and said I was probably getting hives from something he was bringing home from work and we needed to sleep separately for a few nights and minimize physical contact. He did not get close to my husband to look at his skin. He kept his distance. We did try what the doctor said regarding sleeping separately and minimizing contact, there was no difference. Husband still has his normal dry skin and eczema and I’m still breaking out in hives.

Nobody else in my household is breaking out in hives, just myself.

The doctor stayed by the door. Did not come to the bedside. Did not look at my hives. Sat on the chair next to the door for a moment and did not go any further. His body language was like he was worried to come near me. I could only guess, by the doctors body language and distance kept, that after he left my room, he probably doused himself in bleach and sanitizer. Of course, that’s my personal assumption.

I understand doctors don’t have magic wands and they can’t give the best answers every time. Sometimes, they’re empty handed. I feel like this experience wasn’t any kind of helpful though. I left feeling like I’m gross and contagious, on top of 3 weeks of hives.

I’m not sure if I’d go back after...

We visited the ER on 5/18/23 for our 15 month old daughter. We received the absolute worst care we've ever experienced in our 7 years of being parents. My husband is a paramedic and I work in healthcare as well and we know better than to visit the emergency department for a "stomach bug". Dr Ott completely dismissed all of our concerned and stopped nursing after hearing fever and diarrhea and stated "oh she has the stomach bug like everyone else". That is not even what we had told the nurses we were there for, she had her 15 month immunizations 24 hours prior, (WHICH SHE'S NEVER RECEIVED THOSE VACCINES ALL TOGETHER BEFORE), she was having abdominal cramping, wouldn't stand on her own, loss of appetite, not drinking, severe diarrhea, 102 fever with tylenol, and lethargic. After Dr Ott looked at her eyes, ears and throat he tried to rush out of the triage room to only diagnose her with an ear infection, I stopped him and asked if he was going to even feel her stomach or address what we had told him we were concerned about, he stated "all babies do what she is doing and asked how we even knew her pain was coming from her stomach". But after his back handed comment he made sure to tell us he'd be happy to address ALL OF OUR CONCERNS. We gave up at this point, we knew the dr had made his diagnosis and was done with us but he went ahead and felt her stomach and of course and determined she was fine. We believe our daughter deserved much better. She should have had a full head to toe assessment regardless of what he THOUGHT was wrong with her from the beginning and we should not have had to ask for that. We were finally able to get in with her PCP as of yesterday and she has been properly diagnosed with Salomonella and no known ear infection in her left ear as diagnosed Dr Ott in the ER!!! Do better and listen to parents instead of...
