It pains me to write this, because the Dania Marine Flea Market was a staple of my childhood. As an avid fisherman and river rat, it was something I looked forward to every year. I'd be able to snag some great deals on offshore and inshore fishing gear. I worked on boat motors during the summer and was saved many times by the donor motors I found there. I can't tell you exactly what year it took a turn for the worse, but it was around the first year it wasn't held at the Jai Alai. There weren't as many vendors. The vendors that were there were asking prices I could go pay at the store or Sailorman, or in today's day and age, Craigslist or Ebay. The whole event just had a smug feel to it. Don't get me wrong, I was still able to snag a deal or two, but not worth the entrance fee or the mini-vacation I made out of it since I've moved to Volusia County. I probably have a few more attendances in my life, but by no means will it be the focal point of a vacation anymore.
