Very fun quick stop to see the actual working factory in operation. There are 2 1/2 flights of stairs to access the tour area, but, this is well publicized on the website. The parking situation, however, is horrendous and very unsafe. Parking is between a very busy street and the tractor trailer unloading area. I was not even able to see the entrance and parking area signs when we arrived because there were so many tractor trailers blocking the space. It cleared out a bit when we left, but, still seemed very unsafe to have the potato unloading area in the same space as the visitor parking. The self-guided tour itself was very good. It can go as quick or as slow as you like. Nice display of company history and memorabilia along with comfortable factory viewing area followed by a free snack-size bag of chips and a 15%-off coupon for the retail outlet located 3 blocks away. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and have not seen a similar operation before.

This is a great place to bring the kids! This is a self-guided tour, so you get to move at your own pace. However, plan on being here for an hour if you want to see everything. Be sure to arrive at least an hour before closing. Keep in mind that “closing time” is not the time of the last tour, rather it is the time that the friendly lady at the front desk asks everyone to leave. Unfortunately, photographs of the production line are not permitted. Regardless, I strongly recommend coming here if you are anywhere near Hanover. What’s to lose? You get free admission, a fascinating tour, along with a free bag of impeccably fresh chips! Also, the lady working the tour desk on the afternoon of 10/24/23 was a true professional. Lastly, Utz needs to update the tour hours on Google Map. Tours end at noon on Thursday (not 3pm).

Plan for 20-30 minutes on this tour. I have been in many food processing factories and I’m never not mesmerized watching the start to finish of making our favorite products. You have full view of the Utz process starting with the whole potato, slicing them into chips, frying them, seasoning, packaging (watching them stack those cases so high on pallets is impressive!), to the back door. This is a great, FREE tour that will kids appreciation for what it takes to get our favorite foods on the grocery shelves. Don’t forget to visit the Utz factory store down the street. Photography isn’t allowed in the plant but I loved looking at the old packaging. Just be careful in the parking lot, there are lots of big trucks pulling in and out.

Fascinating self guided tour. You will walk up stairs and go through a room with displays of all products and history. The tour is free, you will walk down a hallway with glass viewing windows. You will see the potatoes going into machines, workers doing their jobs packing the chips. Not allowed to take pictures on the tour, but you can take pics in the room that you first walk into. Oh, and a free bag of yummy chips at the end of the tour. Pick up a brochure for a 15% discount in the UTZ store (not in same location but do visit it). The brochure will give you the address.

I delivered a load of potatoes here. Been here about 5x. They go by appointment. They start at 5am. You can come in early but you still wait for your appointment. I had 6am and 8am appointments. Quick offload 20-30 minutes. There is a scale on site, you scale in and out. If you have a seal, they break the seal. Staff is nice. It's a clean place. There is a washroom. Well organized. It's nice coming here. You can't sleep overnight, no room..but go down on Madison Street and you can park anywhere on that street. Lots of trucks do.

The tour is completely free and so interesting. You could be done in 5 minutes if you want to. But we took our kids, 13, 11, 8, and 3. And all of them loved it. The tour is a hallway which has big windows to look out into the factory. There are buttons to hit at each window explaining what is happening. We took our time at each window, watching and soaking it all in. We probably spent 30 minutes here. Then, everyone gets a free bag of chips!
