From the day I received my acceptance letter its been horrible. No one really has the knowledge to help you as a student. I was a transfer and its been awful they send you all around the campus to different places. Multiple times I was sent to the wrong place very frustrating and time consuming. In addition multiple people in important roles like Agnes head of financial aid do not follow through on promises as simple as returning phone calls. Even after leaving messages days later asking for a follow up still no returned call. You call one stop and hold for 30 minutes plus. Course advisors provided bad information causing delays in registration. They are just not helpful at all. I started this process more than 3 months ago communication from UNF is so bad its offensive is some cases. I start classes in a week and still cannot get answers to basic questions. I am also yet to actually speak to a counselor in financial aid. This I find quite profound. They are more than willing to take your money but do not have a care about your needs as a student despite what everyone will tell you. Everyone seems to be pleasant but in most cases not helpful. If your a person who likes quality customer service, doesn't like to be on hold, or gets frustrated being lost or sent in the wrong direction, or even expects people to return your calls UNF is not the place for you. Ive done the majority of everything myself usually after being brushed off or sent to someone who couldnt help me so many times. I also feel like advisors didnt listen to me to fully understand my goals as a student. The overall experience has left me bitter and completely disappointed in UNF. I wouldnt recommend this school to anyone. Speaking with alumni is only furthering the notion that this was a bad choice. I have heard horror stories. I expected so much more from this prestigious institution. My honest opinion is that they have gotten too large to acknowledge you as an individual. Plus there is no place to voice your concerns so it all goes unheard. My education is too expensive and too important to me to let this all go I will be reconsidering alternative post secondary education for next semester/year because at this point...
Read moreIf you're looking for a solid education, go here. If you're looking for a massive campus that takes up 2 whole zip codes, this is not that. UNF is always offering something for students whether it be free concerts, comedy shows, each by well known performers, food provided by various clubs on a daily basis.. And free tutoring for most courses. There are dozens of clubs all of whom put on events, lectures by industry professionals, provide various volunteering opportunities, and one nice thing about each is that you can join them whether or not you're actually studying that particular major. There are free resume building programs which also teach you how to be the best possible interviewee that you can be. The fitness center is world-class and membership is included in your tuition, so take advantage of it! The education standards are very high and in most cases you will not skate by if you don't put in the effort. Most of the professors that I've had are more than willing to go the extra mile to assist you, some by even providing you their personal cell phone numbers to students who are seeking special help. Bottom line, if you really care about seeking a higher education and becoming a young professional in your industry of focus, do not exclude this university from your list of potential institutions that you'll attend. But I will reiterate that if you are looking to attend a 2 zip code, massive college sports party school, this is not that. However, within just the past 3 years, it has expanded by at least 2 new colleges and is always renovating and making things better for students. It has more plans for expansion going on now as of 3-19-15 and I'm certain that it will continue to grow in the...
Read moreAs a visitor to this University I can attest to the parking problem. I can see there is not enough space as the friend who I went to campus with told me about the difficulties parking and the ridiculous fines that may be incurred. However, I can also say that the campus is very well kept, buildings appear state of the art, it is not too large of a campus in comparison to universities such as UCF and UF which means having to walk across campus or around campus for classes in the heat due to parking issues or class locations is less severe of a hassle than at larger universities. And the nature trails located on the outskirt of campus in the preserved land are beautiful. I think it's a really nice campus and has a competitive edge for prospective students looking to focus on education and furthering themselves at a university that maybe isn't an enormous sized school (campus or student...
