Squaw Trailhead for Kanab City Trail — Attraction in Kanab

Probably the 2nd best trail in town, but you need to go up it to get to the best ;) Wouldn't hate it if the name was changed 🤷‍♂️

Just North of the baseball fields you'll find signs for 3 different trails, Raven, Squaw, and Roadrunner. Squaw goes straight up the draw while the other two split off to the left and right.

There are really only a couple tricky sections; one is right at the beginning where you may need to use one hand on a railing to go up a rock, and shortly after you'll have to shimmy yourself through a gap between a rock and a hard place.

A couple sections go along a cliff edge, but the trail is wide and you can easily stay several feet from the edge.

No shade along the whole trail except for a couple junipers, but that's typically not a problem as it is a short hike.

A bench marks the "top" of the Squaw trail with a beautiful view of the White Cliffs in the Grand Escalate Staircase.

Wonderful hike. It wasn't too long, overall 3.2 miles (up and down) and had a few great spots for enjoying the landscape and taking stunning pictures. I would say the trail was easy to moderate but definitely easy to follow as there were plenty of signs along the trail. We got to see a few families on the way with young kids. This hike was incredible! It’s listed as kanab city connector trail in all trails and it looks like it might be really hard or even terrifying but it’s the perfect mixture of adding a teeny bit of fear to your hike while being an incredible workout and finishing with the triumph of looking out over the whole city and canyons beyond!
