Smiling Earth Mushrooms — Attraction in Long Branch

I have had a desire for a particular wild mushroom, after some searching I found a lovely little shop that when in season procures them. The staff is friendly and very accommodating and well informed. My only caveat is that there is no means of communicating with clientele outside of Facebook and Instagram. As a person who does not use social media, I am not privy to any sudden changes to stock, or events. I did ask if they had a newsletter, yet was directed to their website. Yet the site does not seem to change when viewed. Same items out of stock and for sale.

As a result I never was able to purchase the mushrooms I would have liked and now the season is over for them. I wish I could have partook in those mushrooms once again. Yet without a dedicated means of communicating with potential clients outside of Facebook or Instagram, a good subset of clients will go unseen.

I would like this shop to flourish, yet I have yet to even make a purchase here. I do hope that changes...

I had a good experience at this store. The counter attendant (farmer, partner owner), filled me in on the products and services available.

I purchased a bag of spicy mushroom jerky (the texture is meaty, and the spice is grown up level :D). I'll go back for sure.

As far as mushrooms for soups, risottos and the like; there are plenty here. Until now I've been able to find suitable shrooms for cooking on hwy 35 at the Asian market. But the "smiling earth mushrooms" are surely fresh and afford a fungi centric experience.

Check this place out guys. I'd been curious/ suspicious for a while. This place is not creepy.

What an incredible place. Extensive selection of mushrooms, mushroom products (jerky, tea, meat rubs, and so so much more). Owners are so friendly and knowledgeable. Doesn't feel like you're going into just spend money...you go in check out all the cool products, gain some knowledge, sample some stuff and just relax. So happy this is here in long Branch!
