It was the cleanest movie theater that I have ever been in, and they have the most amazing black leather recliners. You can actually recline them and relax while watching the movie. Baxter Avenue Movie Theatre held this years "The Louisville Children's Film Festival" which my son (Alex, the 1 on the left wearing a gray-blue polo shirt) his drama class and several other students from several different visual and performing arts schools was a contestant of. The award ceremony was also held there a week later. Alex and 2 other of his classmates, with their film "Just A Joke" came in 2nd place.

On the Outside of the building It definitely needs some TLC but walking in and seeing okay okay it definitely has a vibe. The process of getting your tickets and snacks and walking to your theater was easy and simple. The staff was amazing and nice. What is really cool about this location was the bar? Didn't expect this location to have a bar. This can definitely changethe mood of any situation. I highly recommend. Definitely bring a jacket or blanket it was FREEEEEZZING. 9/10

Have been here more times than I can count!!! LOVE the midnights showings here (though I do wish they’d get better at posting summer times in advance). Perfect place for a late night movie, and $5 popcorn!Great cozy spot. Get here early if it’s a popular movie though! Spots tend to fill up quick for the flashbacks and popular flicks :)<3

I am someone who comes to your theater two or three times a month, sometimes more. After tonight, the trouble makers and hoodlums can have your deteriorating, smelly, broken chaired, terrible theater - I will drive to St. Matthews to see 1st run movies from now on

I was at the 7:35 showing of The Gunman tonight at the Baxter Ave Theater. As the movie was starting the woman sitting down the row from me (an african-american woman with two friends and 5 kids under 7 in a RATED R MOVIE) would not put away her HUGE phablet - some sort of huge phone. I asked her to please turn off the phone. She just put it on a white screen and waved it at me.

I could have engaged her, I refused. Instead I went out and found an employee and told them the issue. There was a big yelling match, but no one threw her out. Her friend then moved one row in front of us and 10 seats down to be right in front of me with her phone which she turned on and left on. white screen in my face.

I again said NOTHING to her, I did not engage and went and got an employee (a young kid) who called the manager on the radio and then said to me 'we'll throw her out'. The manager arrived, stood in the back and watched this go on for 10 mintues - I got up and asked him - please make her stop - he said nothing. Then I pointed to the other woman on the end of my row, she had her ph-ablet out again, they were texting back and forth.

then the manager (long haired kid, maybe Kevin, just left and went back to the office) I WAS FURIOUS. The woman moved, afraid whe would be thrown out, moved to the fourth row with 4 of her 5 kids, leaving the other with her GF who was still in back row texting on her phablet constantly.

Turns out she was texting two big men that came in stood in front of my seat and stared at me and then went and joined the woman in the front row. 45 minutes into the movie - she kept pointing at me. I was afraid for my safety. turns out the whole time she was calling for back up. I walked out, insisted the manager come out of his office. I demanded my money back and gave him an earful. he said if he asked her to leave it would be a scene that would interfere with the movie, but he expected if I left, I would be quiet about it. HOW SCREWED UP IS THAT - the rule-following person who did not engage anyone else was expected to leave while the inconsiderate asshat who intentionally turned on phone and held it over shoulder to be in my eyes for 15 miunutes of the movie was not even talked to. If you manager is too afraid to eject people from the movie, have a security guard or a cop or hire someone else - I AM INCENSED - you are letting the jerks win. WTH

This is insane and just plain upside down. The last time I went to your theater was a couple of sundays ago, you had a power outage for 10 minutes and the movie kept running so we missed 10 minutes of Kingsman, because it was the last showing, they said the registers were closed and they couldn't give us either a pass for another night or our money back - THE POWER WENT OUT IN THE WHOLE THEATER and you didn't do anything for anyone.

You already have a very sub-standard produce in terms of quality of theaters, projectors, seats, snacks and everything else, if you can't have a decent product and refuse to control the environment to see the movie, I am done spending my $20 each several times per month. Get...

The theaters still looks almost new after more than 20 years, have some of the nicest reclining seats in each screen that you will find, and generally very helpful staff when you need assistance.

Updated to drop a star. Everything I've stated above is absolutely holding true but as someone that at least for the time being that has to use a power wheelchair where I cannot open metal heavy doors on my own I've really begun to realize that Baxter Avenue theatres is not very handicap friendly. despite the theater being open for the 20 plus years and being a wonderful working theater inside and out they do not have any automatic. Oh, not a single one that you can press a button to open it so you as someone in a wheelchair or slow-moving in a walker or cane can get in. I always have to either wait for another patron to go into the theater and ask if they would mind holding the door open for me to get into the theater or do the same when I'm leaving the theater or ask an employee that maybe nearby to get the door for me. It may not be legally required to have an automatic handicap accessible door at Baxter Avenue theatres but I really think it's something that they should invest in as it would make for a much more pleasant experience for those with mobility issues such as myself as I often times will go to the movie solo so have no one with me that can open the door like that. By comparison there is an automatic door like the one I've described at both the front and back entrance of mid city mall where you press the button and the door opens up and you can then walk or roll through it that is the type of door that I believe Baxter Avenue...

Good prices on food, drinks and tickets but their snacks have me on the toilet and vomiting! Yesterday me and my husband went to go see lilo & stitch on 5/22/2025 and I’ll be honest the theater is small which is very good because that means it’s not crowded! The seats do need to be replaced and also there was a mouse. We had nachos with jalapeños, popcorn that was super buttery and I had the slushy. Today when I woke up my stomach hurt so bad. Well honestly I started to feel sick last night but didn’t think anything of it. This morning I went to the bathroom with non regular poop(I know it’s tmi but it’s the truth) I though after that I would be okay and then after I have been back and forth to the bathroom and it feels like I’ve been puking up my guts literally! No some may say “how do you know it was the snacks from here “ well I didn’t eat anything else I saved my appetite for the movie. Also I’ve been puking up popcorn and jalapeños. I have never felt this bad in my life! I’m really hoping I didn’t get food poisoning and it passes because I feel like crap! I usually don’t throw up but I feel like crap! I would post pictures but that would be nasty. Please do better/ clean better! It wasn’t like this years ago, it...
