This park is absolutely lovely. It's also fantastic for Pokémon hunting as there are always lures and many people have gotten legendary Pokémon here. But there's so much more to this park than just Pokémon hunting. Let me break it down for you.
This park has clean and orderly bathrooms. For the amount of people that frequent this park from those wanting to learn about the revolutionary war battles fought here to those just here to play Pokémon, the bathrooms are frequented by many people. They still manage to look and remain clean and fresh which is great.
This place has a lot of history. It would be a travesty to come here and not learn about what took place and the significance of it. Read the plaques, ask the park rangers questions, LEARN!
It's great for the kids. There's two jungle gyms and plenty of room for you to play catch with the kids. There's actually a baseball field adjacent to the park which is open while not in use. I highly recommend taking the little ones here and running around, on the play sets and even just throwing a ball in the vast open space that they have. It's all very well kept and mowed, so no worries about long grass and ticks (unless you just lay around in the grass, which I would recommend you check yourself no matter where you were).
There are MANY places to sit. There's almost a park bench every 10 feet along the Delaware river walk which provides fantastic and amazing views of the river. The airport is almost directly across from the park so you'll also see airplanes coming in to land which is neat too, and the sunset view is to die for.
Hungry? Thirsty? There's a small concession stand ready for you. They don't gouge prices and are pretty reasonable and will make you a fresh burger or hotdog if you want one. The people are very friendly and offer quite a bit for what seems like a family run concession stand.
There's a small beach (rocky beach) that you can look out on. You can even walk on the beach, but be warned, you CAN NOT swim in the Delaware River. There are even parts of the beach that are unsafe and they are very clearly marked. There's also a small dock that goes out into the river a bit if you want to venture there.
There are a couple of pavilions too, so if you wanted to rent them out for a family gathering or other type of get together, I highly recommend it. They have grills you can use (bring your own charcoal) and the pavilions have tables and benches for people to eat. Just contact the parks department to reserve it.
The grounds crew do a pretty darn good job of ensuring the park stays clean. They constantly are emptying out the trash cans and there's also plenty of cans there for people to throw trash into. There were a couple of places that the cans were overflowing, but they weren't overly frequented. Places that have the majority of people around have the trash cans emptied regularly.
There's not a lot of parking IN the park. They do have a few designated spaces but many people park in the baseball field parking lot directly adjacent...
