It's great that they preserved this little plot of land with ties to 1777 when it was actually used to patrol and control the river traffic. There's a very respectable children's play area, well maintained and plenty of benches spread through the park just to be able to locally be able to go somewhere quiet and sit, listen to the water, the ships fog horns like I heard today or just to decompress....etc. The Park sits next to the refinery's old gigantic oil tanks. The other side of the park is the land owned by Sunoco lp. There's a flag with their name on it as you exit the park. When I'm looking at the water, I don't even notice or care that the old refinery is next to Me.

To see markers for the fort, you have to walk all the way closest to the water. Not much information or things to do and see once you've read them which was disappointing. If Jersey has a historical association, i would like to see updated markers, signs, and historical information as they have at Fort Mercer. I feel horrible giving it 3 stars as I'm a student of history, so I hope this inspires further investment into historical sites such as Fort Billings. The fort is sandwiched between refineries, and there is a nice looking park that looks brand new which would be a fun place for kids. Restrooms were locked.

Great big playground, but only go when refinery closed for a holiday. **Update- we went again- its a great park, but don't go the fumes from the refinery are strong and it is noisy, I think because we had gone on July 4th it was much quieter and less smelly. Also the refinery was pumping water from a container area right into the field at the park. I'm sure its just rain water- but I wasn't comfortable with my kids walking thru it to see the water. Stick with red bank battle field, no smells or noise, just gets crowded**

This park really deserves and asked the reason why you have a park with a kids playground right in the middle okay oil factory or chemical power plant I cannot tell the different but it is huge and it smells really bad it's got to be an environmental hazard I don't understand how any City would put their kids right next to this horrible Environmental destruction I would here to exercise I could not stay here longer than 10 minutes it looks nice but the location is awful I would not suggest anyone to bring their kids here and stay for more than a hour Paulsboro is known for environmentally unsafe are environmentally unsafe drinking water do not come here at all thumbs down there are no bathrooms open at this time I'm not sure if they are anytime I did not see any...

I was very disappointed. The location of Fort Billingsport is on the Delaware River. There is no physical fortification or remains. Beautiful views of the river. There are couple acres that make up a public park. I did not locate any historical markers. I did not want to trespass on anyone's property trying to locate one. The park is surrounded on three sides with family homes. On the park south/ Southwest side is an petroleum plant. Very unfortunate that this location has not identified better. This location has been overlooked by the state and federal government. Even though there was not any battle engagement (s) it was still considered a first line defense location against the British in 1777. Please correct me if I'm incorrect...
