My old paranormal team did an overnight investigation on Friday July 7, 2023. We arrived at 6:30pm and we had the Fort to ourselves until 8am the next morning. Greg, who is in charge, took us on a tour and gave an amazing amount of information on the history of Fort Mifflin. Greg has so much information of the history of all the buildings and of the events that have occurred in the past along with the people. I would recommend a visit to Fort Mifflin just for the historical information and the part that Fort Mifflin has played all the way back to the Revolutionary War. I am not sure if there is a cost to tour the Fort for the history but there is a number you can call and they would be happy to tell you what you need to know. If I find out any of that information, I will edit/update this review. On behalf of being an investigator, Fort Mifflin did not disappoint us at all. I don't want to spoil the film that will be put out on our YouTube channel plus we have a lot of film, photographs and audio to go through. Therefore, I don't even know yet all that may have been captured due to the amount of equipment our team uses. If you are interested in getting a look at Fort Mifflin, not just for the paranormal aspect but for the beauty of the buildings and the scenic view. We are devoted to showing the real, raw footage that we capture. We vowed to always show what we got and let you decide for yourself. If you do make a trip to Fort Mifflin, tell Greg hello from Tara and just enjoy the tour and scenic views. They even have a wedding coming up!!! Remember the name Greg, he is a walking, talking encyclopedia of knowledge and it was incredible to learn so much history, right in our own backyard π. Before I finish, I just want to thank Greg again for being the best host at Fort Mifflin. BTW, there is a beautiful area with picnic tables so it is a great place to take the family. Look for the new investigation of Fort Mifflin so don't miss out on not only the paranormal but the historic value of this...
Β Β Β Read moreI've been contemplating writing this review for a while, however, every time I think about it, I am still bothered by the way I was treated.
I am a teacher at a local, low-income, Title 1 school in Delaware County. For YEARS, we took our 5th grade students to Fort Mifflin to learn about the American Revolution. Teachers brought students to the fort even before I started working there.
I made a $100 deposit for a trip that was to take place in 2020. The pandemic hit and my trip was cancelled by Fort Mifflin. I chose to roll the deposit to the following year. My school district was completely virtual the next year, and we rolled the deposit again. When I inquired again to see if I we could schedule for 2022, I did not receive a response until a month later.
Fort Mifflin, specifically the director, wanted to cut our deposit in half and only apply $50 to our field trip instead of the $100. Yep, you read that right. The nonprofit whom my school has visited for YEARS, who have made thousands of dollars off of ticket sales, wanted to cut the deposit of a low-income, 100% free lunch, Title 1 school in half instead of working with us.
Needless to say, to pass an additional cost onto the low-income families of my students is ridiculous considering the history we had with bringing our students to the Fort for YEARS. I asked that the full deposit be honored, and if it couldn't, to keep the $100 as a donation and provide me with a receipt. It is October 2023 and I am still waiting on that receipt. As long as I am still teaching, our grade will explore other field trip...
Β Β Β Read moreI wish the Fort good luck. I really do. It has an amazing history. It's in terrible condition and they struggle for financial support, but that doesn't negate or forgive the behavior of the staff.
We went there to shoot the exterior landscape of the Fort, something we've done many times in different weather and different seasons. The Fort itself is owned by the City of Philadelphia and it is a shared space with the Army Corps of Engineers.
We were taking a few test shots for exposure before setting up a tripod when I heard someone shouting across the parking lot, "Hey you with the cameraβ. RUDE. Hey you? Apparently that's how the staff addresses visitors. He kept shouting that we couldn't be on the property to shoot the exterior of the Fort and we basically got chased off the site for doing something weβve done for years.
Fun fact: Over the past 20 years we have volunteered a large number of hours to the Fort as reenactors for their various events.
And it ainβt just us. An eerily similar review was dropped on Google a month ago. This time it was a card carrying member of the Fort who was also chased off the property by a staff member rudely shouting from the same second...
