I've been coming here for the 5 months and i've had 95% positive experiences. I taught my dog how to bring a ball back after fetching here. It's a large open grassy space with plenty of room to fetch and this place wears my dog out quick.
In the hopes of making other dog owners aware, there's one dog in particular that's a regular, comes during peak times, and is aggressive/causes problems. It's a boxer and the owner is an older male with tan skin who usually brings a blue soccer-sized bouncy ball. His boxer pinned my Vizsla to the ground and my V was literally shrieking and trying to run away while it's owner shouted helplessly to stop it. The boxer kept running after my V and pinning him. The situation could've easily turned worse but he luckily got out with only scratches to his ear and back.
I now leave everytime I see that they're there. Just today (2/25/20) around 4:45pm, I knew he was there because I heardn another dog yell and the owner was shouting and apologizing. Please be aware and I hope this helps keep...
Read moreIt is a nice open place for the pooches and their owners to run around and make friends. Owners do clean up after their pet but there are the occasional poop surprises in the grass. It would be nice if owners could pay attention to their dogs once they bring them to the park until they finish their business and clean it up promptly. Keep it clean for the dogs and their owners. There is also occasional stagnant water in front of the park benches. If the park is under either the city/county jurisdiction, it would be nice if sand can be dumped in these areas to make it more level and to give a clean look. The trash can bags are tied and thrown away by volunteer dog owners at the dumpster down the hill I guess. Does the city/county have specified personnel to do this or could the trash cans be placed at the bottom of the hill? This will be a long walk down for the owners but it will save the walk for the volunteers who lug the bags that just emanate stench. Overall lovely dog park with very responsible and...
Read moreSuch a nice open un-fenced space for the dogs to run free! There's SO much land here, great for fetching and all the play time. Meanley is located across from Scripps High School, so when you turn into the area don't be alarmed if it looks like you've entered the wrong space. There were 10+ dogs there on a weekend afternoon, and everybody was enjoying the fresh air and open land. Bring your own dog poop bags, and tons of trash cans and recycling containers. Will definitely recommend for those looking for off-leash clean and...
