I used to live near Foster City, so it's been quite a while since I visited this particular Marina Market. While seeing my doctor at the San Mateo Hospital, I swung by this location hoping to pick up some Asian groceries. Most items are pretty much standard amongst most Asian supermarket chains (Ranch 99 or Hankook), however, when I strolled by their Deli Counter, I nearly couldn't believe my own eyes - an ENTIRE Roast Duck for $22.99ā€¼ļøā€¼ļøā€¼ļø Roast Duck prices have skyrocketed in recent years, whether it's Peking Duck or Roast Duck, the same roast ducks are $27.99 for HALF Duck, here you get the WHOLE duck for less! This is an incredible price, I hope this is their regular prices; if so, I'd come every other weekšŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹ The lady behind the Deli Counter was also super nice, but unfortunately, unlike Ranch 99, where I could ask for some dipping sauces, the dripping & the duck marinade which are super flavorful; especially when added on top of a rice plate. But, fortunately, Marina Market's roast ducks are way juicier than the Ranch 99 counterpart (which tend to be much dryer & need additional sauces to give some flavors). I HIGHLY recommend coming here just to get their Roast Ducks, it pays for the tripšŸ‘šŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹ Additionally, I was also able to get some 6-oz tofus for mere $1.29/ec, which cost at least $1.69. I also picked up some yummy Taiwanese can goods of gumminessšŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹ In summary, if you are not interested in the roast ducks, then any Asian supermarkets would do; however, if you love some delicious roast ducks, it's well worth your while

A few months ago, this store changed its name from Marina Supermarket to Hashi Market. According to the staff, it is now a Japanese market. I happened to stop by on a Monday morning after dropping my child off at summer camp nearby and bought a lot of vegetables. Unfortunately, when I got home, I found that many of the vegetables were already spoiled — including the Taiwanese loofah (silk gourd). I bought three loofahs and used two the next morning for soup, only to find they were completely fibrous and stringy inside, like tough roots — totally inedible. Today, while dropping off my child again, I stopped by the market to ask for a refund. However, the cashier was only willing to refund me for one loofah, despite the fact that I showed her photos of all three. She said I needed to bring back the cooked loofahs in order to get a refund… seriously? The total was only $7.50. If the store wasn’t on my way, I wouldn't even bother going back. It’s disappointing that the store would put the burden on the customer for such a small refund, especially when clear evidence was provided. I understand that some customers may take advantage of return policies, but in this case, I had proof — what more do you expect? Should I really dig the inedible loofah out of the trash just to prove my case? This was my first time ever trying to return something at a grocery store, and it was an unpleasant experience. Not a good impression for a new start.

The supermarket is quite complete. They won't let you put the groceries to your own bag. You have to put all the items to the cart and bring it outside then you can fill it to your bag. If you buy the bag, still you have to put it by yourself.

This place was always a place to shop at even though there's 99 Ranch not too far from San Mateo/Foster City/Burlingame, in the Peninsula. I am not someone to return something especially for something I bought less than a few dollars, hence I typically don't keep my receipt thinking I have to keep it for any potential returns/exchanges. I shop her a lot, so one receipt less or not, it's nothing to this franchise market. Bottom line is the principle and I may just be one customer, but I do also feel it's a health concern that the public should be aware of. I bought this "Chili Bamboo Shoots In Soybean Oil, brand by Wei-Chuan, Made in Taiwan, with a noted expiry date of May 26, 2019" in November 2016. It is also noted that there is 3 years of shelf life, so let's do the math...maybe this was manufactured sometime in early 2016. I opened it the morning of January 3, 2017, and discovered mold. (Please see photos.) As a good faith effort, it'd be nice for an exchange or return from the market I purchased it as it is pennies to them. With or without receipt, seriously? I am never a type to buy something, especially at a grocery to store just to get a few bucks back as I obviously wanted the item. I asked the cashier and the cashier went to ask an "owner" or "manager." Of course, the answer was no only because I didn't have a receipt. Unfortunately, the mold is not the grocery store's fault, but just a good faith effort is NOT too much to ask. I mean, their groceries especially produces aren't always fresh and the place is not necessarily kept to par with be...

DONT SHOP HERE

Our whole family has been coming here for our weekly shopping for many years, but after this experience we will never shop here again, you are not the only asian store around town, I'll be sure to let all family and friends know. You just lost a big group of loyal weekly shoppers!

We bought a clay pot here, and within less than 3 months this pot cracked and started to leak, luckily our gas stove signals when fire is gone We came to the store and we don't expect a refund, we just want a replacement or atleast a solution, but the manager by the name Hany or Heny, the asian guy that wears glasses, very rudely and hastly says it past 7 day return policy.....We know it past 7 days, we weren't planning to return the pot in the first place, it came to our surprise it such poor quality that it broke less than 3months, we own big clay pots that last many years so we know for certain it's life expectancy is more than that, and anyone that owns one knows too. Well long story short, he very impatiently and rudely brushed us off. As manager we expect professionalism and common Courtesy, even if you can't replace or refund atleast direct us to the pot makers details so we can directly solve it.....What a terrible experience and management. This is just one of the terrible experience we've had with this store....There were many minor rudeness we experience that we use to look past....But this time you did it....All of us will NEVER shop here again, unless you change your...
