03/04/2022: I came here for hiking once about 2.5 years ago. This lake is beautiful. It has a recreation area with huge parking lot and a nice beach, and of course hiking trails. Then one day, on March 4, 2022 after I hiked in Batsto Village area, I planned to come here to watch sunset, only turned out that the gate to the recreation area was locked. So I drove to another side of the road, Atsion Road but found out that there were camping cabins all alongside with locked access. No way to access to the lake. So I guess it’s only open during warm seasons. But anyways, I found a roadside spot on Route 206 to watch sun setting down from another side of the lake, which was breathtaking! Check out my pictures and videos for it.

Beautiful lake! Such a nice facility. Lovely lake with a pleasant water temperature. Be prepared for the “tea” water tinted by cedar trees. In fact, per Wikipedia, “The name Atsion comes from the Lenni Lenape Unami language. It was the name for the strong, cedar-colored stream in which the tribe called Atsayunk, or Atsiunc” The lake is fed by the Mullica River. They rent kayaks and SUP right on the beach! Full menu, drinks, clean bathrooms and showers. They have a free “surf chair” (wheelchair) which is wonderful! Fabulous lake.

This lake has been a favorite of our family since I was a child. So many beautiful memories are wrapped up in this lake and the surrounding forest. Be aware that you have to arrive early during peak summer season if you want to get in because once they hit capacity they close the park. Also this is a bring food in take your trash out with you community. Please don’t leave your garbage for others to clean up after you. And DO NOT FEED THE SEAGULLS.

My family and I tried to go to the lake this past Saturday. We got to the lake around 8:30am for 9:00am opening. There were cops blocking the entrance yelling and screaming saying you cannot wait on the side of the road and we had to leave. When we came back at 9:00am the cop would not let us in, said we could not “cut in line” of everyone waiting at the Atsion Office parking lot (about half a mile down the road) to get into the lake and had to go to the end of the line. There were over a hundred cars in line, we ended up leaving since we would not make the cut off. Both cops at the park were very disrespectful and yelling at everyone - personal opinion, but if you are a public servant you should have communication skills and know how to speak to the public respectfully. It was not advertised anywhere online or in person that we needed to wait in line at an alternate location, nor did the cops inform us when we got to the lake around 8:30am. It was very disappointing and a waste of time. It was a very unprofessional way to handle the situation, there are many other ways overcrowding can be avoided - and should be advertised on...

Brought our family here for the first time this weekend. It was only $10 to get in which sure beats paying per person. The lake and beach are very clean. Life guards are attentive, friendly and really pay attention to their guests. At first I thought it odd that they make everyone get out of the lake every two hours to go over the rules. However I think that's a really good idea. Helps ensure the enjoyment and saftey of every guest. I wish all places would adopt the same practice. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is the bathroom. It's absolutely disgusting. It's really sad that people have zero respect or reguard for other guests and those who run the lake. There's toilet paper and other trash on the floor. And the smell is over powering. I only wish they employed someone to clean up regularly. Or that the guests would at least be more respectful and appreciative of the opportunity to use the facilities for such a small fee. I am impressed however that they offer such a large bath house complete with private and spacious changing rooms. This might possibly become a regular spot...
