Like many, my family grew up on this hill! It was a great place! Sad to see the management lose focus on what is important, the kids. Ashwabay has 1 high school ski and SNOWBOARD meet per school year. This year the announcer, who is also a teacher at AHS, announced the ski meet and completely ignored the fact that there was also a snowboard meet taking place. The AHS snowboard coach, who has logged thousands and thousands of hours over the last 20 years, volunteering for and making improvements and upgrades for MT. Ashwabay, groomed the hill for the meet but, he and the assistant coach and the parents ran the SNOWBOARD race, without the PA system, without a warming shack for the announcers, without any help. The photos of kids on snowboards that hung in the chalet have been taken down. Some of the other local coaches continue to look own on and treat the kids on boards poorly.
Small town equality at its finest!

Both of my kids are conference, state and national champion snowboarders that started out at MT. Ashwabay when they were babies. It is sad to say that after this season, we...

Honestly it’s only a hill for locals to practice on. Mostly straight slope, really short runs. I woulda given them my business if the rental place didn’t try to cheat me. Try not to hit the tent on your way down
The cross country ski trails are nice and well groomed. Bring your own working skis and it’s...
Read moreNice trails for cross country skiing. If the lodge is closed, buy your passes in advance as the internet is minimal to zero. We had to drive down the road until we got ours to work to buy the passes. Passes are a bit pricey at $13 each for cross county skiing, but the trails were very nice and obviously cared for. It was peaceful on the well marked trails too even though the parking lot seemed moderately filled. (We didn't see too...
