Bowers Mansion Regional Park — Attraction in Washoe Valley CCD

Taking the tour of the Bowers mansion which will happen on 20 May I think would be very educational for new people to the area to understand Mr. Bowers and his relation to the mines in Virginia city. Also, this park offers many different amenities more than a dozen places to sit with your family at well-maintained benches with little BBQ, pets in shade, also they have a pool which opens on memorial day weekend and I’m not sure if they still do it but when I was a kid, the Bowers mansion had a haunted house during Halloween. Nice grassy knoll!! ...with great hillside showing off an impressive view of Washoe Valley! The Barbecue area & roofed over eating tables. Definitely cool. Must be seating for 200-300 people! Saw the kids having a blast on the playground equipment & such. Got a nice view of the mansion & I've been told there is nice swimming pool also. Yet, on this day the weather in Nevada was just as it can be on any spring day here, windy & cold. July 1st and yeah, Summer is here.🙂 And it really wasn't the weather which sent me scuttling home after an hour & half or two. It was because I came ILL prepared!! Bowers Mansion Park and Pool is one of my all-time favorite places! The covered picnic facilities at both ends are large and both have many picnic tables - great for large groups. Both are near playground facilities and rustic, but well-kept restrooms. The pool and mansion are easy to get to from either end of the park. The mansion tours are a must for anyone interested in local history. My 10-year-old granddaughter was so fascinated with the mansion, I bought the small booklet about its history for her.
