Kep is likely a resort area where abundant of accommodations from luxury to regular guesthouses. This small province of Cambodia often skip by visitors because there is nothing much to do but is well worth to spent for a few days if you are looking a peaceful place on earth||Brise de Kep guesthouse is located on a square just a few meters from the bus stop. Buses from Phnom Penh or vice versa is right on the otherside of the guesthouse||In the square you'll find stores and other establishment. Easy access to the beach, staying in this house you're likely centered in everything. The city center and crab market is just a short walk from here||We arrived at noon in Kep our room wasn't ready yet. The Vietnamese owner were friendly and good in English. All rooms are upstairs, such as any guesthouses in Cambodia this place has no elevator. It seems the country is far behind with those luxury and high technology with the world has to offer||To get into our room we have to pass through a restaurant. Our room is huge with two king size beds, the bathroom is somewhat smaller and not very clean ( typical in most asian countries) the toilet lid was broken. You get what you pay for, despite all that we find the size of the room worth the price. ||You will have no the comfort you might need but when you looked at it, everything around is walking distance||I book two rooms, my daughter was traveling with us around, she has her double room for the same price||Free WIFI overall but the connection is sometimes slower. This guesthouse can also arranged bus tickets, ferry and visas to Vietnam and Thailand. Downstair is tour office you can ask any information you need||They also has motorbikes for rent but their motorbike is not so cheap, so we went to a tour agency next door for hiring||The restaurant of the guesthouse is so convenient. They're open from early morning till at night. The beach view from the restaurant is awesome||If you want to have breakfast or dinner no need to walk so far. Staying in this guesthouse is not the same as in the hotel. They don't clean the room everyday, we staying for three nights they make up our room on the second day. If you need clean towels and toiletteries you may always asked at the reception. We pay $19 per night very cheap and very satistfied during...
Read moreWe stayed here for a quick weekend getaway, so the hotel was chosen mainly based on location and price - both of which were great. We arrived very late at night after a very long journey from Phnom Penh - unfortunately it was difficult to find someone to assist us, all the doors were locked and there was no way we could alert someone about our arrival. After about 15 minutes of wandering around, someone finally opened the lobby door and let us in. There was then an issue with our rooms, I can't remember exactly but either they weren't ready or there actually weren't any available. Luckily this was resolved and we were given two rooms on the ground floor that opened to a terrace and led down to the beach and another room on the second floor just next to the entrance of the restaurant. Rooms were very big and clean - for the first day, as the rooms were prone to visits by ants and other creepy crawlies, especially if staying on the ground floor.. Bathroom was clean also but shower pressure wasn't so good. We ate breakfast and dinner in the restaurant upstairs, slightly overpriced but the food was really nice nevertheless. The views were amazing so it was worth it. Location was great, it was ocean-facing and the sun sets just round the corner so it's beautiful to watch. It is also a few mins drive to the local market where we went for lunch once, very well known for their seafood. We also took a boat to Rabbit Island which was the highlight of the trip and easily organised on your own - you take a tuk tuk for 10 mins drive to where the boat leaves from. ||||Overall it's a handy place to stay when you're considering location and price but if you want luxury, this is not the place. We were a group of volunteers, accustomed to staying in any condition so it wasn't a big deal as we were travelling around anyway. Oh and beware of power cuts that sometimes would affect all the buildings, or...
Read moreThis hotels proves that a hotel can exist for decades without the slightest hint of maintenance. When we arrived we had to fight to get a remote control for the A/C that we had paid for. They tried with some 3-4 remotes from other rooms which did not work either (totally different brands, so no surprise) and moved us to a room where we could turn the A/C on and off, but not adjust the temperature. Nothing in the bathroom worked properly. Low water pressure, no hot water, leaking sink and a constantly dripping faucet made the floor constantly wet and slippery. The room had appearently not been cleaned for ages, big spiderwebs on the lamps and under the bed, and dusty everywhere. (Yes, I know it is a beach hotel and sand will enter, but this was OLD dirt) The mattress was not too bad for sleeping, neither too hard nor too soft, but the linen were stained and we had a feeling they hadn't been changed for a while. In addition to this the bedsheet was far to small, so we found ourselves lying directly on the far from clean mattress when we woke up at night. On the good side food is excellent and the location the best Kep can possibly offer. Nice and service minded staff, generally, but with very limited understanding of foreign languages. We'll probably never return, however, du to the total lack of...
