Quite easily one of the worst places we have ever stayed in SEAsia. The reception area is just an empty sorry looking space, no common area. For the 2 days we stayed there, the “bar” had absolutely no water to buy for your rooms. The manager said we needed to pay straight away as he’s had people leave without paying before (and now we can see why!!!!) He showed us to our room & said he still needed to get towels (first inclination the room wasn’t ready, this was at 3pm). The room & bathroom was filthy, bottom sheet was covered in sand we had to ask for a new one and then the blankets given (no duvet or sheet provided) were so obviously not washed between stays. Had to go on a goose chase for clean blankets which they did not have. The manager suggested refunding us and us leaving, as he clearly knew there was no clean bedding on site for us to sleep in. But with it being 3pm on the day of, we could not find anywhere available. We also were not given a key for our room so had to climb out of the window every day so we could lock the door from the inside. The hostel next door blasts music every single night so slept horribly. The bar man kindly informed us we would get a free boat ride over to the ferry port (as every single hostel in the area does), but on the day the manager said this would cost us, probably because he was salty that we requested clean bedding, honestly laughable. On the day of check out we needed to use the shower before our ferry in the afternoon and the young girl working in the reception area was on a video call whilst we were preparing for a shower and she was constantly trying to slyly record my partner in her bikini, she told her no stop taking pictures! Do yourself a massive favour and do not stay here! Just bad experience after...
Read more!!! Watch out female (solo) travellers!!!
I volunteered at Lucky Sun Hostel for a couple of days and it was the worst and most terrifying experience since i started travelling. The manager Kem clearly tries to get it on with every girl who steps foot into the hostel. Not only does he make sexuall comments but he also follows us on the island to other hostel parties and tries to touch us. On top of all of this Kem crossed a boundery which made me fled that place in the middle of the night. By pure luck i got the whole 8-person beddorm to myself. In that night Kem came (for the first time since i stayed in that dormroom) into the dormroom at 4am visible drunk and naked with just a towel around his hips and wanted to apparently check if there is someone who needs to check out in the morning. After i convinced him verbaly to leave the room and go sleeping, i left Lucky Sun and could thankfully sleep in the volunteer dormroom of the hostel next door.
Update: Thank you for the nice reply. Everyone else was very nice and welcoming and the food was very tasty. The reply is useless tho because Kem is now sending nasty voice memos and insulting me. The owner should consider changing the...
Read moreThis place is awesome, especially the staff. Shoutout to my man Jordan, who had been so helpful to us during our stay. It’s like family there, and they treat their guests as one of their own, which is something I appreciate in a hostel.
This is why I love them so much: my friends and I walked to lazy beach (other side of the island, 3km away, no cell service and no development, just jungle and dirt roads) and walking back my friend had an allergic reaction to a bite and was going into anaphylactic shock. I had to run all the way back to lucky sun in the dark for help (again, no cell service) and as soon as I ran up to Jordan and the staff, they immediately came together and sent people to get my friends and get medical assistance. 10/10 recommend this place!! We love you Jordan...
