Avoid this store by all means in my opinion. As a follow up to this review. I was able to speak to the Store Manager (Tony) toward the end of the day and he said, "Hi Thomas, saw your review (as follow) on Google today, and that sums it all up and there is nothing else we can do you with. We'll leave it with you and that will be the end of it." So he agreed with what I wrote. The common issues in google review with this store seemed to be the after-sale service.
I would have given NEGATIVE five if that can be done. Just moved into our new home and furnished almost the whole house of furniture (in total around $14K from Sandy's). All furniture seemed ok, i.e. the at par/normal ok, nothing wow, but there are several issues with the Aspen Trellis Lift Desk in the purchase.
When it first arrived, I noticed there is some smell coming out from the desk (not sure if that's the wood smell or some chemical they used for the finishing of the desk). Apparently we would not have noticed that when we were at the show room with all the air conditioning and many other furniture around. Also after further inspection, we noticed that the entire bottom of the desk was not finished (which was not noted at the showroom as even with the budget furniture you can find for $300-400, they finished all sides including the bottom part of it, let alone this desk costs $1,799.).
As such, my wife contacted the salesperson right away via whatsapp and the salesperson said he spoke to the manager, and ask us to come into the store to select the next item so we can exchange the desk.
But due to the new house moving, a lot was going on and I have been traveling for work, and my wife could not get back to the store until around 3 weeks later. Our original salesperson has already left the company and my wife spoke to the manager and the manager claimed that the salesperson never spoke to her and even though we had the whatsapp proof, the manager would not honor it and re-directed my wife to email customer service.
My wife sent the email to customer service as instructed with pictures showing the issues (unfinished bottom, unfinished drawers, etc.) but customer service only responded by the standard wording that: It is done by a standard procedure called "Wired Brush"
So according to Sandy's customer service, the unfinished bottom and drawers was the "Wired Brushed" effect??
With that nonsense answer, we believe that Sandy's is hopeless, we'll just use the desk and hoping the smell will go away. Unfortunately after two months of using, the smell stays, and it is giving me watery eyes and runny nose. So I decided to call Sandy's customer service again to clarify the issue over the phone. The customer service associate answered the phone happened to be the same associate replying to my wife's email (so she claimed). After explaining that the smell stays and is giving me allergic reactions and I'm guessing maybe they used some chemical to do the finishing, etc. and the customer service associate was quick enough to make the comment that "oh yah, they always use chemicals", and she went on to say that "with her 10 years being at Sandy's, she never heard of smell issues with furniture". This tells me that she is here to find any reasons to stop any exchanges from happening. So I said, sure with you 10 years here never heard of smell issues, and I have been your customer for two months I had it, and said not sure if your "10 year comment" is helping me to trust that you'll take care of this properly. Since she brought up the "10-year-comment", I brought up the unfinished bottom issue, and she instead of saying it was the standard "Wire Brushed" technics, she bluntly said, "oh, they never finish the bottom" so I said even inside of the drawer not being finished is the standard? She did not respond to that. I told her that if that's the case, it is definitely a low quality product that Sandy should not carry or sell, I informed her that I'll need to post this to Google for everyone to see and come up with...
Read moreIf I had the option to give zero stars I would! They have the absolute worst service and refuse accept their mistakes. They reveal to us that they forgot to order our furniture after waiting 14 months. Of course they tried to hide it at first and blame someone else but shortly after they accidentally slipped and they mentioned that they forgot. We truly couldn’t have been more patient with their awful management and service. As you may understand, when you’ve moved into a new house with no furniture you would gradually become upset that they keep moving your order and later tell you they forgot about you and your order. We paid a $6K deposit and asked for a discount or some sort of compensation yet they refused to assist as any further. This resulted in them forcibly cancelling our order. What I mean by this was that we were there negotiate and figure something out, but the impatient manager(Tony) said that he refuses to give us any service. When writing the reason of cancellation he wrote on the for that client wanted to cancel when that was never the case. And may I also mention that Tony said multiple racial slurs to my family and threaten to not give our money back. Tony continued to threat us with contacting the police and told our family that he feels sorry for us because of our father. My father has a heart condition and tries his best to calm down in this situation, he asked for water and Tony didn’t want to even allow for him to have that. Tony kicked us out, yelled at us, made a scene and told us that he would find us and ruin our business. What writing here isn’t even close how much I have to say about these people. The whole management team gives you absolute hell, even to their own employee. I hope my review will help others looking for furniture to save some time and avoid this place, as you can see they torment you regardless of and medical conditions, how patient you may have been and the stress they caused. They could care less about others, and as my experience shows, they twist a purchase of furniture into a personal battle. I’m truly hurt by them and fear for my family and...
Read morei wasn’t going to leave a review but after speaking with some coworkers, they convinced me i should.
my boyfriend and i moved into a new apartment last month and needed quite a bit of new furniture. (this happened at the end of september) we were approached by Michael who was very friendly and helpful at first. however, when we found a couch we thought we might like he became VERY pushy and was trying to pressure us into buying it even though we said we had to go home and measure to make sure it fit. it was only the 2nd store we went to so we wanted to check out other couches as well but asked for his card so he could help us if we came back. THEN i asked about financing (since we had more furniture to buy and didn’t particularly want to pay for it all at once) and he became incredibly arrogant.
he said (almost word for word) ‘well normally we don’t do financing because with the normal quality of our clients, they usually don’t need it’.
(the funny thing is, we literally could have bought the couch in cash had we wanted to - but like i said, had a lot more furniture to buy so preferred to finance if we could)
we would have been completely fine had he simply said they don’t offer financing and would have still considered buying the couch, but the way he phrased it was incredibly off-putting and honestly offensive.
we immediately left and went to ashley where our saleswoman was amazing (shout out to rose) and went above and beyond for us.
this was pretty disappointing to us as we would have preferred to purchase from a local company. but we will never be going back there if that’s how they treat their potential customers.
i was looking through reviews and saw that michael has had other negative comments, which also mentioned that he mainly paid attention to someone’s male partner vs her (who was the customer), and i found that to be the...
