We spent a week at Sugar Cane. We had a private double room, which was comfortable and had plenty of light. It's in Poblado, close to the metro and loads of restaurants, bars and so on.||||Upstairs is a terrace with a well-equipped kitchen and various seating areas. We particularly appreciated the organised box system for storing your food in the kitchen, which avoided confusion. Breakfast is free (coffee, cereals, eggs, bananas) and a bit of a fun free-for-all in the mornings. We enjoyed the Sunday BBQ though there could be a few more vegetarian things to make it better value for money for them.||||We were big fans of Günther and the other staff, who were always nice and helpful. Overall the hostel is really relaxed and friendly and we enjoyed meeting people on the terrace. Easy to meet people and go out to party if you want to without having the party in the actual hostel as some other places in the area seem to do.||||All of the rooms are off one tiled corridor so once a few people are up and about it's noisy to wake you up, but we had no problem sleeping overall. There are plenty of bathrooms - I rarely had to wait and even then only a few minutes...
Read moreGreat location. Close to a metro station, a huge grocery store, and lots of bars and restaurants. The staff were great. They were all very friendly and helpful. Loved the dining set up. It consists of just one huge table so everyone ends up talking during breakfast and dinner. It was easy to make friends. I'd recommend joining the Sunday barbecue, good food and it's a great way to get to know fellow guests. Breakfast was included, though there could be a long wait in the morning because it's DIY and people are lining up to use the stove. About the rooms, I found em spacious and the beds were really comfy. There were electrical outlets for every bed, though there weren't any lockers inside the rooms. The ones provided outside were huge enough to fit my valuables though so it was okay. If i have one complaint it was that the wifi was slow and frequently spotty. I had to go outside to do my part time online work. If you don't mind the spotty wifi, this is a hostel I'd recommend...
Read moreBuilding work next to hostel is extremely noisy 8am throughout day. You cannot enjoy the terrace.. plus breakfast you have to make yourself.||Streets on main road are also very noisy meaning dorms are noisy when you open for fresh air.||Unfortunately the Manager was very unfriendly to me when i left and made it clear she was happy that i leave. How rude after i even pay for a meal she is invited to when i first arrive!. She said it was because of water in bathroom floor afer showering. This was a fault of bad design. Not me. ||I never exoerinced this bad attitude from Hostel Owner from any other hostels in my past 30 or so years of travel.||In fact i was so shocked by her bad attitude towards me as a guest who made good effort to make friends with staff and guests, that i needed to write...
