Great for budget minded travelers, this compact restaurant/bar/hostel is small (~ 5 rooms?) and informal. The rooms are of varying quality, so your experience depends on which room you get. We had the two doubles (Rm 1 & 2) with the shared bathroom, and we weren't sure what to expect. The rooms had beds, towels, a/c, lamp and closet. Room 2 was small but good, with new flooring. Room 1 had gaps all around the room, and we found 3 large roaches scurrying about. We slept poorly with the light on and the bed pulled away from the wall, and our suitcases sealed up. Yes, roaches are everywhere, but no need to make it easy for 'em. Also, the noise from the bar was probably loudest in this room. Some highlights were the bartender, who was super friendly and helpful, and the house cat who inspected everything and made it clear that we were in her home and she was just letting us stay there. The restaurant was really good too -- I got a chicken burger with fries, which were perfect. I'm sure I would have loved this place if we had one of the other rooms, or if I was a young backpacker. Overall, this was fine for a quick layover at...
Read moreBicycle tourist here. Bicycles can go inside the room no problem. Their on site restaurant is fantastic and great prices!
Lovely ones. Nice room, cool vibe. I do recommend this place. Defiantly go here for different food than the typical sodas.
Only reason for 4 stars is on a Thursday night you can hear the music from the bar until 2am. I’m an extremely light sleeper. Our friend had fun hanging out at the bar late, but I’d prefer the music go out or the bass turned down around 11pm. I get it, cool place. But that’s my recommendation. You might be able to block the noise with earplugs AND very loud white noise near your head from your phone.
Other than that, I loved it. Thanks for the kind welcome and...
Read moreI stayed there for one night and I loved it. It’s a very relaxed, peaceful place with some cats and the dog living onsite which I personally (as a huge animal lover) always find as a huge plus. The location is great too, it’s a 3 minute walk to the bus station which is very handy when you have to take an early morning bus. Raquel and Isa were super friendly and very helpful, they really go extra mile to make sure your stay there is pleasant. So, if you happen to be in Tilaran, that’s the...
