Quick review: avoid this place if possible, there are better places just 100 meters away. But if absolutely necessary one night will do.
The rooms were big, though not very clean. We had two beds, both really okay to sleep on but there is no proper cleaning so the floor was kind of dirty. Place is really run down
Bathrooms are a joke (especially the shower, see pictures) with cockroaches. Constant water interruptions, meaning at times you can't wash your hands or shower and can wait in the shower full of soap for 10 minutes until you have water again.
Breakfast was okay, not great but also not the worst. Food is kept in the sun so all products might go bad fast
Service: there is none. There are young Haitians running the shop that need to ask everything with the owner by Whatsapp. Getting back change after paying in cash? Need to ask. Room price? Need to ask. Checkout? Need to ask. Seems like someone in the background is living a good life (through the income of these high-priced rooms) while the place is not maintained and left to itsself and run by young people with no experience or...
Read moreUnfortunately this place was NOT all that it was cranked up to be. Yes it was on the beach, but power was sparse as unlike other businesses on the lsland no generators are used for the comfort of paying guests meaning it was frequently cutting off. Dirty shower and living area which obviously had never been cleaned. Cobwebs in every corner, broken shutters on windows, shower taps heavily Limescaled & rusted and cold water if any! Breakfast was dismal consisting of salmonella eggs, old fruits and out of date bread fried in garlic to hide the fact. We had a fish dinner and the fish was translucent and gave us diarrhoea, so we never ate there again. When we highlighted the situation to Laura the owner, she said she was busy, eating her lunch for most of the afternoon. At 5.30pm or so she more or less said we were lying. Isla Saona is a beautiful lsland but this accomodation is totally disgusting and yet is priced as one of the most expensive on the lsland. Look at the...
Read moreAn awesome place. Lucky and Laura are a great team and we enjoyed every single minute staying at Saona Beach House. A rustic atmosphere, incredible beach views and far away from daily life. Lucky beside of being a super nice host is also an incredible chef - food was delicious!! I loved sleeping while hearing the waves crashing on the rocks in front of the hotel. Mano Juan is incredibly nice and beaches like Canto de la Playa or Los Flamingos are nearby and reachable by walking or with a Motoconcho - that Lucky organized for us. We will...
