Holiday Inn Tampere - Central Station by IHG — Hotel in Tampere sub-region

This is the hotel we tend to stay every other month while visiting inlaws in Tampere. It's the only IHG hotel outside greater Helsinki area in Finland. The hotel is showing its age but you cannot beat the location, especiallly if traveling with a car as they have large car park adjacent to the hotel and affordable deal there. All the services and amenities in the city are withing walking distance: cafes, restaurants, shops, tram stops and even ice hockey arena. Arriving with a train would be very convenient, since the train station is next door.|Breakfast is decent but nothing special, similar to what is served in the other hotels in the area with fresh ingredients and standard variety with local specialities such as the famous Tampere black sausage. But their pancakes are something special and extremely delicious! Definitely not something you see in other breakfast buffets.|Standard rooms dont necessarily have a mini bar, so if that matters to you, pick the superior room which also have bathrobes available. Shower has oneforall-liquid so I'd recommend to bring your own stuff. Hairdryer is awkwardly stuck to the wall with a very short cord so you cannot use it anywhere else but at least there's one. Ironing board also inside the closet. They also have the best two sided enlarging makeup mirror in the bathroom for us far sighted.|We havent had any problems with the soundproofing even though railway is just beside the hotel. The beds are comfortable. Aircon works well enough. ||Staff at the hotel front desk is very helpful and friendly, always serving customers with a smile - which is no way the standard in our country. ||Apart from the oldish look of the hotel rooms and bathrooms, I am happy to return. I spent one night in this hotel during my business trip to Tampere. The hotel has an excellent location next to railway station, and it has a lot of positive properties for short or long term visits. It has typical European Holiday Inn style with a quite small reception area. A lobby area next to reception was extremely comfortable, and suitable for working. My IHG status was correctly notified, and staff in reception were friendly and pfofessionals. Maybe they try too hard to be so good. Hopefully they can relaxed also. My room was not the biggest one but the bed was excellent providing me the excellent sleep, and I almost missed the breakfast. The bathroom was clean and new with nothing special. Shower was working and lights were bright. Yes, bathroom was boring but practical. The room itself was nicely decorated and suitable for sleeping over night. Altoghether this hotel is new and lack some character. Staff is very professional and when they are more experienced everything will go nicely.
