Le Clos ficarella — Hotel in Ajaccio

By far the nicest accommodation we found in Corsica, this cluster of houses sits just 15 minutes drive away from the centre of Ajaccio (itself a great hub for the rest of Corsica, if one of the most touristy and least historic cities on the island) amongst rolling mountains and great views. The host was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and took great pains to make sure we had everything we needed. Interior (and exterior) decoration is really fabulous here, and you'll feel right at home in both the rooms and communal areas. By far the highlight for us was the (larger option) breakfast, which included some truly delicious freshly-sliced local charcuterie, cheese, and omelette cooked with local goat cheese and fresh mint, served alongside fresh bread and pastries and a sumptuous range of homemade...

There were five of us, four cyclists and a support car driver. I cannot praise the charming Le Clos Ficarella highly enough. It was thanks to a couple in a car who showed us the way that we found it tucked away off the main road.and what a find it was! The delightful Marie Jose had her patience and charm tested to the limit when our party arrived one by one and the meal she had prepared was delayed. As it got dark and as there were still two boys out on the road she took her car and went to find them. The meal despite being seriously overdue was delicious, the rooms comfortable and breakfast more than adequate with a wonderful array of local and homemade jams. Située dans le paisible village de Cauro, le Clos Ficarella vous rappelle qu'il existe encore des petits coins de paradis sur notre planète. Non seulement le cadre est magnifique avec sa vue unique sur le golfe d'Ajaccio et les Iles Sanguinaires mais en plus, vous pouvez bénéficier d'une table d'hôte fabuleuse. Les adjectifs manquent pour qualifier les plats concoctés par Marie-Jo. Une chose est sure, c'est l'occasion de découvrir un large gamme de produits du cru ( charcuterie, fromages, vins, etc ) et de faire redécouvrir ce qu'est le goût à vos papilles. Chez Marie-Jo, vous vous sentez comme chez vous et le soir, il est bien agréable de partager les récits de la journée avec les autres convives en profitant...
