I booked this for the location on our way back to the UK with very little research, so didn't know what to expect. Driving into Nogent we started to get a little worried, there are power stations and large blocks of flats surrounding a medieval town centre. The hotel is slightly out of town if you're driving, with the looming towers of a power station off to the right (just don't look!).||||Sadly we had a road facing room, so couldn't appreciate the view of the river other than at dinner or breakfast. The road was quite noisy, not helped by it being a very hot night. And I don't recommend trying to cool off with a walk by the river without putting insect repellent on!||||The food is superb, we had the E35 menu and the flavours and presentation were excellent. I think the service was varied for others but as we were first for both dinner and breakfast we had no problems.||||Excellent value and well worth a...
Read moreArrived after 15:00 to discover reception closed despite email confirmation suggesting you only need to ring ahead if arriving after 18:00. However all sorted after a phone call. Room tired but clean and missing a bedside light fitting. Expected a demi-bouteille de champagne in the room but this was instead provided as a our aperitif. Food was lovely with tasty amuse bouche and a very nice fresh tasting green pea starter. Choice of a fish of meat dish for the main course. My wife had the sea bass and said it was exquisite. I had the pork and that was both meaty and succulent. You then get to choose either cheese or dessert - but we asked if we could have both and chef provided a tasty cream cheese course followed by a strawberry pavlova. Both were scrumptious. We chose a bottle of a low tannin Alsace red to go with both the fish & the meat. Plenty of other wines on offer, both by the glass and...
Read moreThis small hotel/restaurant is a little off the main autoroute track but is well worth the effort to find. It is on a bank of the Seine. We had room No 10 with views over the river. The room was comfortable and well-equipped with comfortable bed, good reading lights (the kind that allow one to read without disturbing your partner), good bathroom, separate loo and free Wi-Fi. We had checked out the hotel website and had chosen the "Offre Séjour" which cost €85 per head and included room, four course dinner with complimentary glass of champagne, mineral water and coffee, plus breakfast - the only extra being the wine we had with the meal. The food was both delicious and interesting. Service was good. We would recommend without hesitation and will...
