24 Jun 2019. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SEE THE PICTURES! (full disclosure, I'm from the USA and have traveled to many places throughout the world and know a full range of lodging experiences. Thats my perspective as I write this review).
Unfortunately this hotels is less attractive than what you might expect after seeing the official website photos and reading their written description. The first thing you will notice is the neighborhood in which this hotel is located is like a combination garbage dump and squatters camp. See my pictures - you will get an idea. I didn't want to be obvious and take pics of the displaced people or their tent city as that would be rude. But you can walk up the street and quickly see it. There are squatters and their tent cities just across the street and all up the street from this location. There are open toilets and open water/washing stations just up the street. There are fences with razor barbed wire everywhere. It's horrible. It's a terrible visitor experience. Now, don't take me the wrong way - I realize that displaced people are a serious issue and these are human beings in need. But I would never have chosen this hotel if I realized in advance what a sheeeeeet hole the neighborhood is. As for the hotel itself.... It's only OK. The pictures make it seem nicer than it is. It lacks a certain refinement. It's a basic European "budget" hotel but at inflated prices. It's not a 5 or 4 star hotel... Not really 3 either. Our air-conditioner system was not working very well. Our room was warm the three nights we slept there. I find it difficult to sleep when I'm sweating. If our reservation was cancellable, we would have left immediately. We did mention this to the front desk, on the morning after our first night, but it didn't seem to improve. Also, we noticed on the same morning that the sheets on the extra bed in our room had NOT been replaced with clean ones after the last guest checked out. That's in our pictures as well. Pretty nasty finding a brown stain on your sheets. And yes, the sniff-test confirmed what the stain was. This didn't help our impression of the hotel. As for hotel features.... I will say that it's nice to have the water closet separate from the shower and bath tub. There was a sink in the WC and in the shower area AND even in the open area of the room. 3 sinks did help when three of us were getting ready in the morning to go out for the day. The shower area doors are ridiculous. They have holes and slots in them making privacy difficult. POOR DESIGN! not good for a room that can hold 4 people. Also, in the shower stall there is no courtesy shelf on which to put a bar of soap, a razor or a bottle of shampoo. This is a missed opportunity to provide extra convenience to a guest. If you need to iron your clothing, there is NO iron in the room nor is one available for in-room use from the hotel. You must take your clothes to level 5 and use the communal iron and ironing board. And don't forget to bring your own water with you, because the steam iron is usually empty of water and you need to bring your own. And there is no Air conditioning in the ironing room... So between you and the hot iron, the room becomes uncomfortably warm very quickly even at 11pm at nite. Plan to prop the door open with the steamer machine so you have some relief. Do Europeans and people from other continents not like to iron their clothes in their own room?
Overall or trip to Paris was a 4 out of 5 and our hotel experience was a 2 out of 5 to be generous.
If you are a visitor used to places like nicer hotels such as Double tree, Corinthia, or nice privately owned hotels, you will not be happy here.
To my American friends... If you've ever stayed in an older Ramada inn or older Holiday Inn or some off the interstate cheap lodging establishment, you will understand what I'm talking about... Except off the interstate you won't usually find barbed wire fences, tent cities or trash cluttering the...
Read moreDoesn't even deserve 1 star! Seriously this hotel was a disappointment in every single way. When we first arrived we noticed the massive amount of Homeless people camping outside, we thought maybe it was to do with the recent protests however when we asked about it when we checked in, they told us it was homeless and refugees which they could not do anything about. The room was spacious but only because I booked a family suite for two of us. During our stay the lifts were constantly breaking, and on our second day the hot water was broken, they told us 4:30 pm would be back but didn't come back until 8 pm.
Later that night around 9 pm we decided to get some food. There was quite a few takeaways in the local area, around 5/10 minute walk. We thought we would walk there as the delivery charge was high for something just around the corner. I wish we had paid for that delivery. This was a very scary experience, there was people approaching us on the street trying to grab hold of us asking for money. There was groups of homeless people on the street lighting fires in barrels. The advice that I have now read from other reviews is to not go out of this Hotel past dark.
The main metro station is a 2 minute walk up the road, however is right by the homeless people. Honestly it makes it scary to even go out of the hotel. If it is dark I would highly recommend getting a taxi to the front doors.
I would not advise anyone to go here. Do not think that it is worth the money that you save. Spend the extra money on a hotel in the inner circle of Paris. This hotel needs to put a serious warning on their website regarding this issue.
GOOGLE STREET VIEW IS NOT UPDATED.
Please check my pictures. This is how the street actually looks. These people will approach you and intimidate you in effort to get money from you. Sorry for the poor drawing on the pictures. Just trying to show how unsafe this place is.
Having this right outside our hotel meant we did not see any of the Paris nightlife as we were too scared to go past at night time.
I hope this review helped people deciding whether they want to stay here on not, if you...
Read moreThe hotel is conveniently located just outside Paris, but in a lower income neighorhood, 5 mins walk to line 12. An Adidas statium is under construction that may bring more updated infrasture and security to the area in the future.
This is my first time to a B&B but my general impression for the overall quality of service, especially at the reception is really lacking. People working there didnt wear uniform. There was a middle age man working there most of the time.. he just sat there, gave an unfriendly expression, never greet and never make eye contact.. his presence at the front desk just making it unwelcoming.. if he is not working at the reception.. go sit somewhere else.. otherwise.. i expect to reveive hospitally and at least eye contact.
The size of the room was big in Paris standard, furniture a bit dated but this meets the price/quality expectation. The sofa bed however gave me an impression of being dirty..bed sheets were clean but may be it was just dated and well used? If there is one thing, i suggest management change the sofa bed when they have the budget. The hair dryer needs to be changed.. i felt like holding a vaccum hose than a dryer and i could never do any styling to my hair.. is just that bad! The water temperture was not consistent.. it can get very hot and cold at times...becareful! The main bed was comfortable and i had a good night sleep. The cleaner didnt speak english but she was a nice lady that did the job well and always polite.. i left tips on the table for cleaning.. she didnt pick them up.
Overall if i were to pay EUR175.. there are better choice out there.. something like EUR 125 may be...
