Overalll great holiday in a beautiful location. ||Location:|The hotel has amazing views. The view was gorgeous from our room and also from the pool & eating area. The hotel is a 40 minute walk from the town of Elounda and the sandy beach there, the walk is enjoyable and again the views are lovely. If you are unable to manage the walk it is very easy to ask reception to order you a taxi. A short taxi ride takes you into Agios Nikolaos which is a pretty spot for a wonder and some shopping.||Pool: |The pool was always clean and staff made sure it stayed tidy throughout the day. We easily managed to get sun beds around the pool every day with amazing views of the sea. The snack bar was always filled as well as the ice cream! The sun beds were okay but needed updating, the furniture in the outdoor seating area needs updating too as it was coming apart, never any cushions on the seats. ||Room: |We paid a small amount extra for a sea view room, after talking to people this seemed to provide us with a larger room at the top of the hill rather than the bottom. The room was large and always spotless after the cleaners had been. The beds were comfy and the shower is powerful. Fridge, kettle and safe are provided as well as a refill of coffees and teas every day. Good storage. ||Restaurant: |The food was tasty but not many vegetarian options were provided every day. Most days meat or fish was added into almost every dish apart from the salad. However, when vegetarian options were available they were good. The food stations were always refilled by staff who clearly work very hard, the restaurant was never too busy and the wine and beer is definitely better in the restaurant than at the bar. Staff worked very hard to quickly take your plate when you had finished and were always friendly and welcoming. ||Staff: |The staff were amazing. When we arrived we were welcomed by a friendly receptionist who showed us where we could get something to eat after arriving in the middle of the night. The bar staff are very friendly as well as the waiters/waitress’s and made an effort to chat. ||The ONLY issue we had: |We got back to our room with a note under the door to ask us to go and speak to reception. When we got there we spoke to who I assumed was the manager? Who said we had been ‘selected’ to move hotels. This was a bit of a shock to us as we were having such a nice time we didn’t really want to go. The manager was very pushy and made us feel like we should want to move hotels and this unsettled the person I was with quite a lot. The other hotel was sold to us as a ‘5 star hotel’ and we were shown pictures of it. After reading the reviews of this hotel we decided not to go. We the saw him approach others and offered them to move hotels too which a few seemed to agree on, someone was even offered money each day to move hotel. This was very confusing and something we’ve never heard of before? After this the hotel suddenly became very busy and we weren’t sure if it had been over booked being the reason of the suggested move. ||Overall, a lovely hotel with great staff in a great location. Lots of couples, families and...
Read moreThe Hotel is in a stunning location and overall appearance is very pretty. We had a lovely, large sea view room with balcony. Bed very comfortable, fridge, which was a real bonus. The bathroom shower curtain was too short so each time we showered the bathroom floor was flooded. Small issue but irritating. Second morning we were woken up by drilling and banging. Turns out there were builders renovating the room next door to us. Why this would happen in season I have no idea. Reception were sympathetic and offered us another room. It was not nearly as nice as our present room. So we decided to stay in the room we had, despite the building noise. After a day out we came back to a surprise of a basket of fruit, two glasses and a nice bottle of wine to put in our fridge. Nice touch and much appreciated. We were very disappointed that the bar inside the hotel had been stripped out and not functioning at all. Despite the hotel facilities stating there were two bars. This was an issue. With only the pool bar open everything was served in plastic cups. I understand that for around the pool area but do not want to have my drinks every evening served in these plastic cups. I would have loved to have a cocktail in a cocktail glass or coffee and liqueur in a decent glass. Happily to have paid for premium brands if glasses were used. There are great photos on the hotel gallery of a beautiful bar indoors with soft lighting. A great Shame we could not experience this. We went out every night to Elounda as a result. The food was a real mixed bag. Really good variety for breakfast, although fruit a bit repetitive, but delicious. Hot dishes never hot. The evening meals were probably the least enticing. They were mostly slow cooked dishes and could have been tasty but for the fact they were never hot, barely warm, which is not very appealing. The deserts were a little thin on variety, although the Baklava was fab. We happened to have lunch on two occasions and this was a completely different experience. A variety of interesting salads, grilled meats, Greek spinach filo pie, very tasty, and a couple of good pasta dishes. The dessert section was a delight. As I said a very mixed bag between lunch and evening. All the staff worked very hard to keep the dining area and food stations clean and tidy. We found the hotel pool a nice area to relax on a sun bed in the late afternoon and a refreshing swim. In the morning after breakfast it was delightful to sit under the tree on the terrace and have coffee, a cinnamon biscuit, which were melt in the mouth, and read looking at the magnificent view. The beach was a 15 minute walk with a beach bar, sun beds and umbrellas. A great place to swim and enjoy the views once again. We loved Elounda which had a variety of very good bars along the waterfront. The restaurants were varied and offered excellent fish dishes. We very much enjoyed our stay in Elounda and the hotel definitely was a...
Read moreWe visited this hotel at the end of the season.|We booked it a few weeks before so had a bargain. BUT if you didn't and paid a lot, lot more you might of been disappointed!||Good points first. |Stunning views, very clean and helpful, hardworking staff.|We were greeted late at night by a very polite gentleman, they had laid on food and drink for us all and then took us to our rooms.|Our room was big, with a very comfy bed and an amazing view over the bay to Spinalonga.|Tea/coffee/kettle and a fridge in your room.|Double fitted wardrobe with hangers and a couple of drawers, plenty of space for clothes.|The room was cleaned every day with clean towels.(until the end of the week)||The pool and sunbeds were very comfortable with again spectacular views. Snacks served all day with tea/coffee,beer and cocktails served in plastic glasses but that's understandable in the pool area. Bar staff all very friendly.|The restaurant. |Again, fabulous views with very hardworking staff but in our opinion the food was OK,not the best we've ever had. Normal sort of options and at the beginning of the week very plentiful but by the end of the week there was no milk in the coffee machines, no butter and definitely not as much choice. Yes and I understand it's the end of the season but come on!! These are basics.|The location of the hotel is half an hour work to Elounda village. But there are no bars/tavernas close by.|But perfect if you like it quiet.|Now to some of the negatives and I've mentioned the food. |But why close the inside bar which I understand by reading previous reviews that is was closed a few weeks ago, when the evenings are much chiller and people want to sit inside.|Why not close the pool bar in the evening. So at least people can enjoy your lovely cocktails and a glass of wine in a proper glass. No one is around the pool area. So don't tell us about rules.|We were all told off one evening because we had taken glasses from the restaurant area into the inside bar area. |Familes and couples just sat quietly chatting and enjoying the hotel drinks. |We were told it was the rules!!!|And yes they were lots of signs but maybe have a think about why customers were doing this.|IF YOU PAID FOR A DRINK AT THE BAR YOU COULD HAVE A GLASS EVEN AROUND THE POOL IN THE DAYTIME. |Very, very annoying. |I'm sure you have plenty of time to pack away your bar etc now.||Another annoying thing was towels. We started off the week with lovely clean dry towels but by the end of the week we would get maybe one and the others would be put outside blowing around in the wind. ||I am sorry to have to complain but just because it's the end of the season the hotel shouldn't let it's...
