Olive Grove Beachfront — Hotel in Municipality of Southern Corfu

We had a booking to this place on Kavos in august 2023(we are a couple) ,we was supposed to be in there arround 00:30 pm but because our plane was late with almost 3h we was arrive very late arround 2:30 pm ,we didnt have internet to inform sombeody ,and because was so stressfull for us the hole trip we totally forgot about that,we was arrive at the location and we had a number to call different one from the booking one ,but no one was answering to none. We was trying multiple times to call from a lot of people from the street but one of the phone was closed and the other one no one was answering,we was trying to find a room to sleep in that night but everything in Kavos was full so we was actually on the street with the trip almost half payd and no place to sleep. We was trying to speak with people arround but no one can help us,we was stop also the police to help us ,but they didnt have what to do ,we was terrified ,everyone was partying but we was crying on the street begging people to help us somehow,until one guy was find us a a room with no money!!! ,finally at 5 pm we had a room to sleep,just for a few hours until we leave that pleace behind. We was so angry for what was happened to us ,when you have a holiday planed for a few months in advance you expect to relax not to feel how the hell is feeled.That night was horrible for us,leaved on the street,no place to go,by the way you can not go in the town in the night because the taxi is not taking you without an order and we didnt have any minutes to call,we didnt know to much in that night after so many hours of travelling everything we wanted was a place to rest and forget all the stress but wasnt possible because of this place,arround that it was a bad smell,like pee and drunk people arround,trash everywhere,the streets wasnt clean how you expect to be an a holiday place where you go. In that night i was trying to contact the property ,no one was answering ,i was trying to contact booking they said that they can not help me in any way and i should cancel the stay in there and if i would cancel i could take any money back,they didnt was a help at that point. Somebody from booking was calling me back 10:30 am in that morning and trying to helping me somehow and understand the horror that we live 1 night before,they made the owner to cancel the booking,but we still didnt receive half of the ammount of money back,we are still waiting,because we didnt even make the reception in there ,even the next day. The property send us a message on booking in grecee language to cancel the property if we are not going in there anymore,but we wasnt agree because it wasnt our fault that we was sleeping almost on the street that night and no one wasnt at the reception and not even bothering to answer the phone. The next day when we was wake up we was start looking for a place to continuing our holiday and give another change for Greece,we find another place more expensive ,but edventually we was exploring and enjoying Greece how we was supossed to do it first time. If somebody will ask us now if we want to go seeing the Grecce again,a big No!and the reason you can read it here,i know not all the people and places are the same but for us was too much,we have so many years of travelling and so many country but it didnt even happened to us or a closed one someting like that ever again! Kavos is not a place to go in there and relax on the beach or to go out night even like a couple ,in there is a place to get drunk ,and party,for young people,not families or couple that go in there to relax for a holiday,it smels bad on the stress,looks not so clean,a lot of trash everywhere,a lot of nosise all the time..not recomended to anyone(we was to the next place ,Glyfada,in case everyone whants to give a search to google to see how it looks and compare these 2,is worth it!) We booked this hotel as a couple for 10 days, with half our payment taken 2 weeks before we got there and the rest on our check-in day. This review is only for our experience with the staff from the accommodation and about the place where it is located. We informed the property owner through the booking app that we will arrive later in the night, around midnight. We received a reply from the property that we will receive instructions on how to get into our room. We did not receive any instructions and unfortunately due to our flight being delayed for 2 hours we got there at 2:30 am to discover that the reception was closed and there was no way to go in the facility. There was only a phone number printed on a paper on the front door of the reception stating "Please call ". We called the phone number from several phones and every time it would say the same thing "the person is unreachable or they have their phone closed". So we stayed on the streets until 5:30 am asking around if there was anyone who knows someone from the staff that we could call, even the police who said they can't do anything. We tried to look for some other place to spend the night as we did not have any chance to spend the night in the place we booked from months before our arrival. Luckily an amazing gentleman from a nearby place offered us a room to stay which they prepared that night for us to sleep in. We even called our agency and they said they can't do anything at the moment so we took the generosity from the gentleman and accepted it as a fine gesture. The next day we get a call from our agency saying that the owner wants us to cancel our stay at Olive Grove Beachfront. After several talks with our agent telling them we don't want to cancel our stay and we won't our payment reimbursed, they said that either we cancel our stay or the property cancels it. From what we understand the owner has done this before and it's his practice to force people to cancel their stay so he can keep the payment that was done before-hand. Later we received a message from the property owner stating that we should cancel our stay if we don't want to stay there, even tho we did not even manage to check-in here. There was no apology along the lines, no way of explaining why they left us out on the street for several hours, not even inviting us the next day to check-in. In the most despicable way, the property canceled our stay so that we still lost a part of our payment due to us "not presenting ourselves to the establishment". Not only did we pay for nothing, we got rudely scammed using the booking system as a reason for us "not presenting at the establishment". If you want your vacation to be ruined, experience the most despicable staff and waste your money for nothing, you are more than welcome to gamble with this place. Now, about the place: there is no pool there although it specifies it has a pool in the booking ad. The place was deserted, we did not see more than 3 people there the next day. The place looked barren. The Beachfront is actually further away, like 100m to the beach. We walked to the beach and it looked like it was after a flooding, algae smell and algae washed all over the beach. The sunbeds looked like they could barely sustain a human being. We did not see any staff there the next day. The place is surrounded by clubs so don't expect to have a peaceful sleep at night, or until early in the morning (loud music was playing until 5 am). There was trash all over the place, plastic cups, cigarette buds, etc. During the night, the streets which surround the place were full of loud people, music, screams, cheering, etc (we knew what to expect but this was out of our expectation). We will never return to this place ever again, and I hope this will prevent other people from not experiencing...

Greatly dissapointed. Hotel itself is placed in the busiest (and loudest) part of Kavos, so good luck getting a decent sleep. Breakfast is below average, two types of bread, single type ham and cheese, only option of veggies is greek salad. Dinner was okay I suppose, although I was again disappointed - a guy with a toothpick in his mouth came to take our order, returned twice to 'double check' , only to completely forgot to bring a meal that my friend ordered. It took over an hour before our meals actually came. Oh, and we were expected to pay for the drinks, and were told 'it is not included in the dinner'. Also, when ordering french fries and asked for mayo or ketchup, we were told 'sorry but no, its not our culture' whatever that means. Beware that the hotel DOES NOT have a pool, despite it being shown on the pictures, and you're advised to use neighbouring one. The beach itself is extremely dirty, covered with cigarette buds and various trash, I was absolutely disgusted. Forget the daily houskeeping, we stayed for 5 nights and the cleaning lady came once to clean and once to just give us fresh towels after we specifically asked. The room itself is average, the aircondition was not working properly, and although there was a television, there wasn't any remote so you're expected to push a single button on it everytime you want to do anything with it. And last but not least, when asked whether I can use late check-in because my flight was at midnight (willing to pay the extra charge), the manager simply said not this time, because its busy (?) Oh, and expect to be surrounded by 15-year old Brits partying and screaming up until...
