Lots of pros on cons here, the owner is extremely nice and helpful, assisted in directing us to paid overnight parking and we were able to check out quickly the following morning. We would have stayed 2 nights, but blankets on twin size beds smelled as if they hadn't been washed in months and the online price (Q320) we were quoted vs. the cash price we paid ended up costing almost twice as much (Q750). The shared bathroom that was located in a room across the hallway had a shower drain that was nearly inoperable. Electric showerhead had mickeymouse wiring taped and heat only worked at very low water pressure, otherwise cold, so between the drain not working and the lack of warm water pressure it was less than ideal. We killed two very large spiders which appeared to be brown recluse "violin" which are venomous, with lots of signs of spiders in the ceiling/wall with a thick layer of droppings on top of the telephone box in our room. Someone down the hallway (believe it was an employee) was bumping pop music for a good couple hours at night and between the street noise and loud music it took my kids a while to fall asleep. The hotel is right on a busy street and the road noise of dirt bikes, tuk tuks, and motorcycles made it difficult to sleep until traffic was light towards ~11pm. I wanted my wife and kids to sleep so I did not mention anything about the spiders until the following morning (to be cautious with moving blankets and luggage) as we were getting ready to leave. If you need a crash pad and are used to staying in youth hostels this may be an option for you, if you are used to "hotels" with 3 star or higher rating you may want to check...

There's the chicken buses running in front of the Hostal that are well decorated yet can get you around the city .The rooms were spacious with cable T.V. that had just two English speaking channels. The rooms had toiletries (soap) with showers that had hot water. There is a courtyard in the hotel one could roam about, a well decorated dining room with tasteful art.. It's an older hotel built in the late 1800's with a hacienda atmosphere. They'll serve breakfast on request, cost $4.00 USD.. There is a small kitchen in where one can prepare meals. The hotel is located 100 meters from the market in which one could buy produce from merchants. Gilda the owner will give you a key so you can do in/out without having to ring the doorbell. Just be careful of Gilda's dog he growl...
I was GRANDPAcking in Antigua for 3 nights. On my previous visit I stayed in 2 other hotels. This time, I tried the Santa Teresita.||I pre-booked a Single Room online at a 68% discount.||This brought the price down from US$33 / night to US$10.50 (or GTQ121 including the additional 22% taxes). This came with a free breakfast.||The room was small but came with an ensuite with daily housekeeping, a hot shower and cable TV.||A Breakfast is worth about GTQ25 ... so the room was excellent value at GTQ121 but IT IS NOT worth the Rack Rate of GTQ380 / night that it is listed for. It is worth about GTQ175 / night including Breakfast.||The hosts were nice people and it had a comfy common area.||It is, probably, a little too much 'on the edge of town centre' for some people ... it was a decent walk to get to the...
