Opera Hostel Budapest — Hotel in Budapest

Worst. Accomodation. I’ve. Ever. Been. I’ve been in military school before, everything was very on budget and restricted, but it’s still one million times better than staying at this place. I’d rather sleep on my house floor than this place.

There are several problems that I faced: My rooms can not be locked. They don’t have any key left, because it was lost before. I’m booking one room for 7 people, and they suggest us to take important belongings with us and left the room unlocked. Our room’s bathroom is also the cleaning lady’s bathroom, so we have to share it with her and she can get in and out anytime she wants. The cleaning lady put the luggage in our room. Really? BED BUGS. I’ve found 5 in one sit. This is a real issue guys, I saw a lot of blood stains on the wall bcs people are killing the bugs. I think they didn’t change the bed sheet since it’s so smelly and full of dust. Their management is so bad and slow. It took me 45mins to check in :) (there’s only one guest that checked out) Staffs are unfriendly

I’m writing this review not to shut down their business, but dude they really have issues and got to fix it. I don’t want other people to have this bad experience in this beautiful city. You better book other hostel, there are a lot of cheap options with a better room and better service, scroll more.

First, no one speaks English in the place, which is weird for a place primarily used by foreign tourists. It took tons of time for the receptionist to figure out our booking as they don't use computers for some reason. It's 2022, what are the problems with using a cheap laptop instead of pieces of paper? Then the guy appeared and said I am "the boss", screaming and yelling that we have to show are documents specifically to him for some reason. He was very rude and on the edge of getting violent. ||Despite that, the room was fully booked and no one was about to check in, they asked one guy out in the morning again in a very rude form. When he got back later to pick up his stuff that he left with another guy who was still staying at the hostel "the boss" chased him upstair screaming that he has to "get out now".||Needless to say that the place itself is awfully, old, dirty, etc. But the "service" is the most terrible...

If you are always aware and protecting your stuff, it is ok. Bed is comfortable, toilets are ok and kitchen modest (better buying fast microwave food then waiting someone else to cook like a chicken for one hour before you can use the eletric stove for your quick pasta). No soundproof. You can hear all toilets next to you and since rooms get warm and windows have to be open, all sound from the street comes in, although it is not a busy street, still disturbs from construction sites or whatever. Security is minimum ( although there are cameras there), rooms have no keys (anybody can get in and out anytime if receptionist fail to control who comes in). On the day of my stay, a hungarian girl was arrested by police due to stealing other guest's stuff. If you really need a low budget, that's the place but "keep all values at all times huged with you". Staff is polite, specially night shift guy is very polite...
