! Absolutely Appalling Stay – “The Glen” by StayVista, Lonavala !
We booked The Glen from 21st to 23rd October, and it turned out to be, without question, the worst villa experience we’ve ever had. What’s marketed as a “luxury stay” is in reality a designer’s debacle wrapped in cheap gimmickry and neglect.
To begin with, the bathrooms are a complete disaster — no natural light, no ventilation, and not even a basic in-line exhaust system. The showers barely trickle out water, and when they do, it’s ice cold. So much for a “premium experience.”
The interiors are a garish mess — tacky, overdone, and utterly devoid of taste or comfort. One night, the electricity went out, and despite there being a genset on site, the staff simply didn’t bother to turn it on. Imagine having to call the caretakers at 3 a.m., pleading for power because it was unbearably hot — an experience that completely killed any sense of “vacation.”
But nothing — absolutely nothing — prepared us for the horror of the kitchen and dining areas. Cockroaches everywhere. Crawling near the food, on the counters, around the plates. The staff’s reaction? A shrug and an admission that “it happens often.” This level of filth and negligence is unacceptable anywhere, let alone a place that claims to be “luxury.”
We had kids and senior citizens with us, and everyone was disgusted. And to add insult to injury, the villa didn’t even have a basic coffee maker. StayVista’s leadership has little or no clue about luxury. Mixing Nescafe sachets with hot water isn't luxury.
It’s an absolute disgrace that a property with such poor hygiene and maintenance continues to operate unchecked. StayVista should be held accountable and this property should be reported to health and safety authorities.
Avoid “The Glen” at all costs. It’s an overpriced, unhygienic, mismanaged property that fails spectacularly on every front — comfort, cleanliness, and basic hospitality.

Our recent stay at Stay Vista’s The Glen, Lonavla was a nightmare disguised as a luxury experience. What was marketed as a premium property turned out to be appalling beyond words. From the moment we checked in, it was clear that hygiene, safety, and guest care were not priorities. The property was infested with cockroaches—inside rooms and worse, near food areas. It was utterly disgusting and dangerous, especially since we were traveling with small children and senior family members. The kitchen hygiene was horrifying, making meals feel unsafe and unfit for consumption. Adding to this, the basic amenities promised as part of a “luxury” stay were completely missing. The bathrooms had poor cold-water pressure, laundry services were far below standard, and overall maintenance was terrible. This kind of mismanagement is unacceptable at any level, let alone for a property claiming to be luxury. We had gone there to celebrate a festival with family and instead ended up dealing with filth, frustration, and health concerns. To make matters worse, we are still waiting for a refund, which reflects Stay Vista’s lack of accountability. We feel deeply cheated by the company’s negligence. The standards of hygiene and maintenance were far below expectations. The rooms were not cleaned on a daily basis. The bathrooms were poorly maintained with visible cracks and wear. There was no consistent supply of hot water and the water pressure in the showers was inadequate. In one room, we even had to manage with buckets of water. The rooms did not cool even after keeping the air conditioner running at 18°C throughout the day. Additionally, there are not enough air conditioners in the living room, making it uncomfortable for everyone to gather there. The most concerning issue was the cockroach infestation. We found cockroaches near the food served to us, on the salad, and throughout the kitchen area, including inside the refrigerator. We were forced to tolerate these conditions since we were traveling with senior citizens and children and dining elsewhere was not feasible due to the remoteness of the location.
