Stayed at the Vista Palazzo Lago Di Como with my wife for one night. What can I say: it was amazing. 5-star luxury all the way.
Several days prior to our stay, we received an email from the hotel stay informing us, among other things, of directions to the hotel and where to park, asking if we had any allergies or dietary restrictions, newspaper preferences and any requests, and the staff was quick to respond.
The hotel itself is beautiful. Walking in through sliding glass doors, you feel the luxury walking in. There's also an alluring scent (like a wonderful, slightly floral perfume; maybe a combination of bergamot and lime, or something similar) that is throughout the common areas of the hotel that makes you just want to linger in those spaces.
Check-in was super smooth, and the staff was friendly, polite, professional and helpful. The porter/valet came to help with our bags and park the car. The butler showed us up to the room and took us to the bar and restaurant on the top floor. We had a drink at the bar, but unfortunately did not get a chance to eat dinner at the restaurant (although the menu looked fascinating) -- that will have to be for our next visit!
The Vista Palazzo is part of SLH, which is affiliated with Hyatt. I booked through Hyatt and was given some benefits, including complementary breakfast and a one-category upgrade to a junior suite, which was amazing. It was large, beautiful, modern, and tastefully decorated. I had mentioned that our stay was in celebration of a specific event, and, on arriving to our suite, there was some welcome gifts and a personalized note, all of which was very much appreciated. The bathroom was also beautiful and very large, and including a large shower, a separate large tub, and there was marble everywhere.
Breakfast was at the restaurant at the top floor, and it was delicious. A buffet of pastries, cold cuts, cheeses and bread, as well as some eggs and bacon.
Check-out experience was as smooth as check-in. Our car was brought to us.
One thing to keep in mind is that the lakefront near the hotel is having work done, so the shore is not as beautiful as you see in photos, though this is no fault of the hotel.
A big thank you to all the staff at the property.
We will be back to Como at some point in the future, and when we return, I highly doubt that we would even consider any other property for our stay -- we will return to the...
Read moreLike several hotels in lake Como region, this hotel is not a true water front property being separated from the lake by a busy street with a lot of active construction. From the entrance, it may not appear as a 5 star hotel with a tiny reception area and extremely small elevators with mirrors trying to make them appear big. Once you enter the hallway, you will see nice corridors and the rooms are wonderfully furnished with a great interior design/amenities along with a supremely comfortable mattress/pillows. Shower is spacious with marble and tile designs and separated shower from the toilet. Due to Hyatt Globalist status, my room was upgrade to a suite, which has a sitting area along with a work desk area and two televisions. They provide 4 bottles of water every day (2 with room cleaning and another 2 with turn down service). Staff is very attentive and bring stuff very quickly upon request. Hotel does not have a gym, pool or spa and parking is available for 35 Euros per night. Breakfast is on the top floor, which looks like a boat cabin with good views of lake Como from a small outdoor sitting area. The lake view picture in the hotel main page is from the top floor. There is also a indoor sitting area on the top floor along with buffet and dining chairs/tables. Breakfast buffet is basic with cereal, yogurt, choice of eggs and various disserts. There is also another menu with prices for different kinds of breakfast entrees. Overall, one should choose your 5 star hotel location in lake Como carefully and this hotel is well suited for someone who want to be in the center of a busy town with several shops/restaurants within a walking distance. If you would like a quiet neighborhood with world class Spa, one should consider the nearby Grand hotel Victoria in another part of lake Como. We spend few days in Grand Hotel Victoria before coming here and while this hotel has better designed rooms, GC Victoria wins with everything else including free parking, better breakfast and the top of the line Spa/Gym. Wi-Fi is very basic for a 5 star hotel and toilet paper is on the thinner side and I would like the hotel to work on...
Read moreMy sister and I stayed at the VISTA Lago di Como on a recent weekend trip to Lake Como. The location was perfect, right across from the lake and the public ferry terminal, and close to the main square. The room and bathroom were large and there were thoughtful touches throughout. Although on the website, you don't have the option of selecting twins, they were able to convert the king bed in the room into two twins so that my sister and I could have our separate sleep spaces.||Each evening during turndown service, our slippers were placed by our beds, a little treat was left on the night stand, the complimentary bottled water was replenished, and a little card with the upcoming day's weather forecast was placed on the bed (with temperatures in both Celsius and Fahrenheit). Very thoughtful touches. ||As a Hilton Diamond member, we received a room upgrade that gave us a little sliver of a view of the lake and free breakfast each morning. Breakfast was fresh and delicious and just enough to be a great start to your day. ||Keep in mind that this is a small boutique hotel, so you won't find the same amenities you might find at some of the larger hotels along the lake like a pool or spa. Those things weren't important to us, but if they are important to you, you may want to consider other accommodations or simply getting a day pass to use another hotel's amenities. ||The staff was very friendly and accommodating and even gave us a scroll with a map of Lake Como on one side and a hand-written note on the other as we were checking out of the hotel on our last day. Another thoughtful touch that wrapped up a weekend of kindness and thoughtfulness from the VISTA team.||The only drawback I found for this hotel was the linen bedding. This is solely personal preference though. I find linen to be too stiff and scratchy. This would absolutely not be a reason not to stay here though. If I'm in Lake Como again, I would choose to stay here in...
