We stayed as a couple in the standard double room. I know the reviews all say this is a small room, but it really is tiny. As many reviewers say, if you have a lot of luggage you actually can’t walk.
Also the duvet was too small for two people (we are average sized Chinese people - i.e. slim and not particularly tall. I therefore tried to turn the air conditioning down but couldn’t because it’s entirely in Japanese and seemed to only have a temperature setting which was freezing, and very noisy with max fan speed vs completely off. I did end up turning it off then woke up in a panic because it was hot and I was sleeping against the wall. I’ve never felt claustrophobic before or after staying in this hotel but I genuinely had a panic attack. I tried to open the window which only opened a fraction and it was June when we stayed so it was muggy and the air was still. We stayed for two nights and this happened the first night. I actually really tried to put off coming back to the hotel as long as possible the second night and also looked into booking another hotel with a bigger room...
When I asked for another duvet the front desk staff couldn’t understand I think. Eventually they gave us a blanket so we managed to both get under the blanket / duvet and sleep with the air conditioning on full whack. Trust me being in a small confined space with no air flow and getting hot is actually unbearable.
If you suspect that you don’t like small spaces so much, try to book the deluxe twin room (they were sold out when I booked) or stay at another hotel with a larger space.
Other than this the hotel was beautifully decorated, nice front desk staff, lots of thoughtful amenities including a hair dryer for girls with different attachment heads so you can even curl your hair! (It’s like a hot air styler) which has been sanitised as they’re all in sealed plastic. Bathroom also very modern. This was good value for money. But I’m not used to small rooms in Tokyo as we usually book larger more expensive rooms - one that we always go back to is Tokyo Dome Hotel as their hotel rooms are very...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel in January 2018 for 4 nights while we visited Tokyo. ||||The hotel is beautifully decorated and well-maintained. It has a gorgeous lobby which really makes you feel that you have arrived in Japan! Upon arrival, each guest is given a lovely wash kit that contains all the things you might need for your stay and the staff were very kind and helpful, despite the late hour.||||We had booked to stay in a small double non-smoking room. It was a very small room but I had seen this mentioned in other reviews so I wasn't all that surprised. It also seems that most rooms, particularly in Tokyo, are like this! We managed just fine and put our backpacks at the door when we were not using them and used the shelves and the space at the end of the bed to store things. The bed itself was comfortable and we slept really well. As our duvet just fitted the bed, I had to ask Reception for blankets, but they came up right away! Guests are provided with a really pretty yukata (cotton robe) and slippers which were just so lovely to wear. They also provide hairdryer, hair tongs and all sorts of things in the room. The bathroom was compact but more than adequate for us and we really enjoyed our stay here. ||||The hotel is in a great location and a short walk from three stations with access to several lines: Naka-Okachimchi (Hibiya Line) Ueno-Okachimachi (Toei Subway - Oedo Line, take you to the sumo hall in case you get a chance to go!) and Okachimachi (JR Yamanote and JR Keihin-Tohoku) A further 5-10 minutes walk north from these stations is Ueno, a main station with access to several metro and JR lines. There are several convenience stores close to the hotel as well as a large market on the other side of the Okachimachi station with tons of restaurants and bars. Additionally, you can also get to Ueno park from here which is home to the Tokyo National Museum as well as several other museums. It really is a beautiful park and quite nice to sit with a coffee and people watch. ||||Ueno is a great base for exploring the city and I'd recommend this...
Read moreThe Tsubaki hotel is placed near akihabara. In about 3-5 min you can reach the grey subway line "H".
The stuff are really friendly and try to help when ever its possible. They even called some places for us and ask special things. All of them speak enough english to help you out when needed. They also serve tee and coffe for free in the morning and evening.
The rooms are really nice and clean with a good interior. But like many others already write the rooms are really small. We come here for a 12 day trip with the big cases its really not easy to get your luggage under in the room. The bath room is also small but even for me (1.85 m and a few kilos) its ok. If you are a lot bigger you will have problems to fit in the shower.
They offer a private hot bath at the roof top of the hotel. The place is really nice designed and for only 500 yen you can reserve it for 45 min.
My advice : if you search a small nice hotel with a friendly stuff and clean rooms the hotel will not disapoint you. If you plan to stay a really long time an got big cases you need to arrange your self with the space.
All in all its a nice place and its...
