We booked this hotel for one night only. We were travelling during the Covid Pandemic and we were not allowed on the plane for various reasons. We therefore had to find a hotel for one night only. We found this hotel on bookings.com with a very reasonable price for one night. I read the terms and realised the hotel was a 30 mins speedboat rose away. The time was about 8:20’pm. I therefore rang up the hotel to ‘check’ they could still pick us up at 8:45 pm. I was put through to reservations and this is where the experience went very bad. We were told the boat was leaving at 8:30. We were only 15 mins away and so I was asking what option I should take and was trying to confirm the price of the boat. The reservations team simply lied to me and said I should book on the company website. I went to the correct company website which told me to phone reservations. I told this to reservations who simply did not help me and again lied and also told me the boat was leaving soon. They also told me there was an option on booking.com for a ‘free boat transfer’ but I couldn’t find this option. I asked for clarity and again got told the bald was leaving. So I asked a very simply question. What’s the most it would cost for ‘us’ to get the boat. I was told USD$85 and so worked out the total price on the back of a napkin and made the decision to book for the cheapest option on booking.com assuming we would wok out the details when we got there. Little did I know that I would be treated with disrespect and that I was lied to. When we got there. The boat was 85 per person each way and the room we had booked was horrendous. I tried to escalate to management and waited for an hour whilst the reception tried to call reservations. I was advised to pay so that I could get to my room and they would sort it out the next day. The receptionist tried to give me some 10% off vouchers. When in fact there was an option on booking.com for 25% off water sports etc. This option was only USD$1 more than the option I booked and so these simple discounts were of no value to us. We simply wanted the price agreed on the phone honoured. Maximum of $85 for the transfers. That’s all I wanted. The following day I got a no and that was it. Simply dreadful customer experience. The island is tiny and horrible and the entire experience was simply horrendous.

This little, charming island holds a very special place in our hearts. It’s where our relationship began back in 2011, when it was still just a picnic island. We got married in 2012, and ever since Malahini was developed into a resort, we dreamt of returning to relive some of the most beautiful moments of our lives. Now, after all these years, we finally did—and it was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. The reservation process, done directly through the hotel, was seamless. The staff was exceptional from start to finish, ensuring a smooth and memorable stay. The buffet selection was vast and absolutely delicious—each meal a treat. Our room was the perfect blend of elegance and modern comfort: spotlessly clean, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. Walking around the island felt like strolling through a mini botanical garden, with lush trees providing cool shade and creating a peaceful, green escape. The beach was simply stunning, and though we didn’t go on excursions this time, we enjoyed refreshing dips in the ocean, escaping the scorching sun. One of our favorite moments of the day was watching the sun go down, coffee or a favorite drink in hand—a perfect, peaceful end to our relaxing day. There was one staff member who truly stood out: Mr. Shamin. Despite being constantly on the move, he always took a moment to check on us, greet us warmly, and ensure everything was going well. His genuine care and charisma left a lasting impression. People like him carry the heart and soul of a brand, and we’re so grateful for the kindness he showed us. Thank you, Mr. Shamin—you made a difference. We highly recommend Malahini to everyone—especially locals and expats looking for a weekend getaway. The resort’s offerings are affordable, and the experience is absolutely worth it. Thank you, Malahini, for giving us a chance to reconnect with our past and create even more beautiful memories. We hope to return again soon

We got a welcome drink. We had booked a deluxe room with sea view and full board. After arriving we would inform that our room was fully booked and for the first night, we get a smaller superior room with sea view and balcony. We got a discount of US$ 50 for this mistake. The room was clear, but the drain at the shower does not work very well. The bed was very nice decorated with the towels. The buffet was big enough with big choice. The meal times were 07:30 – 10:00, 12:30 – 14:00 and 19:00 – 21:00. The beach was clean, but it was very difficult, due to of stones and other issues to go inside for swim. I went inside white diving shoes. Thera are less beach lounger for all guests, but the beach was big enough. There was no problem. At next day we got the booked room. With a welcome surprise at our bed with the towels. The showerhead did not work very well. There was less water for hair shower. My husband hat birthday and got a decoded bed and a birthday cake. At check out, they would bring us the airport, so we said we stay on night a Hulhumalé. They called the next hotel for check in. It was hard to explain them that we wanted to stay the evening at the island. The additional buffet cost US$ ~46. One small beer cost US$ 5,5. We got a letter form the reception that our check out time would be at 11:30 but in our booking confirmation was 12:30 written for check out time. It was hard to explained them the confirmed check out time. At 12:00 the staff waited for our room for cleaning and our room card (key) was locked. We arranged the transfer to the island for 18:30 and change it to 15:30. We went to the boat, but our suitcases were not on the way to the board. They looked them and signed it for a transfer time 20:30. Luckily, I noticed this mistake. I recommend you book only full board. I did my last part of the PEDI open water diver education. We did only four diving’s with out any exercises. This is not PEDI standard!

The pool is so clean that along with water, you also get various insects including floating dead cockroaches. Will upload pictures for you guys to see this amazing view but they are kind enough to not charge you for providing with these extra insects.

They refuse to serve you floating breakfast even when it is clearly written in your booking voucher stating some unwritten hotel policy. When confronted, they sweetly say that they can’t take responsibility for what make my trip offered. But in their defence, floating cockroaches were served on the pool

Coming to the meals, the live pasta counter makes half cooked pasta most of the time unless repeatedly reminded that pasta isn’t supposed to be this hard, once cooked. The egg counter doesn’t understand scrambled eggs with liquid consistency. The pasta still is the most edible item among the entire spread. The dessert spread is simply appalling.

They refuse to serve drinking water in the breakfast table citing ‘we only give drinking water for lunch and dinner buffet. Not for breakfast buffet’. So we sat through breakfast with no drinking water.

Everything with them starts with a confrontation and them citing some weird unwritten rule. There are so many that you can’t freaking relax for a moment here. Coming to written rules, they refuse to let you take your lunch to your room (although this is a written rule and thus, can’t complain much apart from the sheer lack of empathy) even when your 5 month old baby is screaming through the entire lunch time because of the heat. You can’t even come one at a time, while the other stays with the baby, because the lunch time is strictly 1.5 hours, beyond which they close, no matter whether your meal is half finished or not.

Coming to meal timing, we got late for lunch one day as they shifted our rooms late and we had to wait until they shifted our room as per their instructions. Once we came for lunch and just took food on our plate, a lady came to remind us that we had to finish our meal in the next 10 mins as their restaurant in closing. Upon saying that we got late because of the room change which was delayed, they said ‘the restaurant and the housekeeping is different and we don’t take responsibility for what they do’ (mind you this is the all inclusive meal package where you pay everything at a time, to the resort). We had plate full of food, a screaming infant and two people constantly arguing with us that we had to finish up within 10 mins. Somehow, we finished eating as fast as we could.

Ants everywhere.. big, small, red, black- they are in your bed, in the pool area, on the lawn chairs kept in your deck, on the white curtain small bed kept outside and inside your open washroom. Even if you accept all of this, ants in the main bed inside the room is unacceptable

They charge 1 dollar per pill for a basic emergency medicine. Imagine paying this much and then paying 1 dollar per pill for an emergency medicine.

While the bedding is clean, the dewan and the sofas outside the room are tremendously dirty and the covers are never washed and it is hotel policy as per them, to never clean these!

Punctuality- they checked us in late.. however when it came to check out, we were asked to check out at sharp 12, and then wait without air conditioning till 1 pm, when they had arranged the transfer for us. and of course the boat was late too.

The coral reef around this island is dead with barely any fishes.

We shifted to Mafushi and then to another island after Kuda Bandos. Everywhere the hospitality was far better.

Coming to a few good things- The chef made rice kheer for our baby's rice ceremony which was very kind

They gave us pool villa with beach access.

Rashiq and the people who come to the airport are nice and kind.

Despite half cooked, pasta sauces were excellent (very close to what you get in Italy and not the extra cheesy american...

Very small and cosy island, we stayed for a week and everything was amazing. Staff are a great asset for this place, the owners can be proud of their staff. We travelled a lot but the customer service here was perfect, starting from the reception crew who retrieved our delayed luggage, which we thought that was lost. They managed to get it after 48 hours, as our airline delayed the checked in bags.We were offerred complementary transfer to Male and a travel guide on our first day, to help us buy necessities because we had no luggage for 2 days due to the Airlines fault. I would like to mention all 7 guys at the reception and the one lady, unfortunately I don't remember their names. They were all amazing and helped us with everything we asked from them. We stayed in a garden room which was very clean, Vitte did an amazing job every day, he would make a different animal from the towels that were changed daily. We had a dog, elephant, rabbit etc My wife and I were very happy with Vitte's cleaning. The Maaga restaurant was amazing, very good food, chef Dipak, Sourav & Co made fresh food for us, at every meal, which was very tasty and we enjoyed a lot. The waiting staff at the restaurant were really kind and always had a smile on their face and made sure we had everything that we wanted. I would like to thank Eni, Zalil, Salika, Mikee, Anil, Jeena, Juman and Vanesa for their lovely service and smile, it was a pleasure to have them serving us at every meal. The Resort has 2 bars, Bar 75, which is the smallest. Here is where we've spent most of our time at the beach, on the sunloungers. We loved the swings and the overall atmosphere here. Harsha was the barman and was very kind and made us some very tasty drinks. The reef here is amazing. I have snorkled and seen all the colourful triggerfish, parrotfish, butterfly fish, reef sharks, etc. I loved it, it was amazing!Discovery channel live experience! The Resort also has a Marine Hub were you can do different trips. We went with them to see the turtles and sandbank. It was a great choice, I highly recommend. Jante and the guys were super friendly, answered all of our questions about marine life and Maldivian culture, always smiling and they fixed our own snorkles which were not working properly but after they fixed them, we had no more issues. The Resort has another Bar - Blu Bar which we visited at night. The atmosphere here at night is breathtaking, the moon and stars and all the lights from surrounding islands and ships are amazing, the dolby surround sound and chillout music was a very pleasant experience, waiters Rakib and Ishan were very kind, delivered great service and prepared some nice drinks for us. The only thing here, was that after 21:30 they would change music and for us the disco night, Karaoke night and movie night, were not of any interest. We enjoyed more the chillout music and atmosphere before 21:30. Overall we had an amazing time, best holiday ever and we have travelled a lot. I would come back here without hesitation. Thank you Malahini Kuda Bandos for the great memories you gave us.We will always remember this place, for all the...

Do not book this place. Initially in August we had booked at Malahini Kuda Bandos and then cancelled after reading few reviews and it did not have a swimming pool. So we visited Bandos resort which is a sister resort and it was really good service and overall experience compared to Malahini Kuda Bandos. So we for some reason booked this place for our stay during 20th-24th November, which was a big mistake, deluxe room with sea view. The room is good but the Tv has few channels and smart tv does not connect to YouTube or Netflix. I am on vacation and have come here for peace of mind, not to crib about the experience. The watersports activities are all chargeable which it should be, but the life jacket is also chargeable, if in any case we drown the person at the water sports centre mentioned that if they have to help the person drowning they will charge for it. which is first time we heard in Maldives ( we have visited Maldives thrice and stayed in 3 different resorts), it was such a disappointment and we could not snorkel because of this. We carried our own snorkeling gear from home. The food at breakfast and dinner, the food at dinner was good but could be better in terms of starters and desserts. Some days it was really good like pizza, South india rice noodles, Chicken shawarma, Um ali dessert, Chicken piece for main course. For breakfast the options we're almost the same like pain au Chocolat, croissant, danish, donuts, granola everyday. The gym was good with basic equipments and well maintained, we face issue on our last day with ac in the gym but was resolved 30-45mins later after calling the reception twice. The person who cleans room 304 does a good job. We e-mailed our flight timings prior to our arrival and our flight was delayed after we boarded which is clearly visible to all resort counters at the airport. So the speedboat decided to leave us and go ahead, we had to wait for 30mins-45mins by then it was beyond 5pm and started pouring. So we checked in our room full of wet sand on our feet and footwear and clothes partially wet. The weather is not in our control but the least they could do was wait for us. We are going to checkout on 24th November and on 23rd evening we recieve a letter saying our checkout is at 12pm and the speedboat pick up is at 3pm. We have booked a half board package which they can clearly see and they also know room checkout is at 12pm. We did not even request them to extend our checkout time. We only said to arrange speedboat in their timeslot which is 9:30am,12:30,3 and 5:30pm. We asked them to arrange at 12;30 pm and they said it is full, which now caused us stress and panick to change our plans which was an inconvenience that could be avoided if they could plan better and let guests have a great time. Overall I would say to avoid booking at this resort if you want to have a good time...
