I recently stayed at the Grand Mogador City Center, which is currently in transition to becoming a DoubleTree by Hilton. You can definitely tell it’s still in the middle of that change, because there are a lot of signs, features, and even the general vibe of the old hotel still around. That said, I wanted to share my honest experience.
First impressions were actually pretty good. The car park was spacious and very clean, and as soon as we pulled in, the bellboy greeted us with a smile and took care of our luggage right away, which set a nice tone for the stay. At reception, check-in was smooth and friendly. The staff were welcoming, though I have to admit I was disappointed not to receive the famous DoubleTree cookie – a small thing, but it’s something I usually look forward to when staying at this brand.
We were given a complimentary room upgrade, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, the first room had a strange smell that made it uncomfortable to stay in, but when I mentioned it to reception, they handled the situation really well and moved us to another room straight away with no fuss at all. That level of service was reassuring.
The hotel itself is very large, and because we visited in the off-season, it sometimes felt a bit dark and empty. With so many areas relying on sensor-activated lights, walking through some of the hallways could feel a little eerie. Personally, I think it would make more sense for the hotel to close off one section during quiet periods and focus on keeping another section bright, lively, and welcoming.
Breakfast was fine, nothing special. The food itself was okay, but one thing that stood out (and not in a good way) was a staff member arranging the food on the display with his bare hands. It didn’t feel very hygienic, especially when guests are right there watching. Small details like this can really affect the overall impression.
Checkout was straightforward and without any problems, but by the end of the stay, I couldn’t help feeling that the hotel is caught somewhere between what it used to be and what it’s trying to become. There are definitely signs of good service and potential, but until the transition to DoubleTree is fully complete, I don’t think I would book here again. I’ll be curious to see how it improves once everything is up to DoubleTree’s...
Read moreDear Team,
From the very moment we arrived, your exceptional hospitality and attention to detail have made our stay nothing short of perfect. Every member of your team has gone above and beyond to ensure that our experience has been seamless, comfortable, and truly memorable.
The warm welcome we received at check-in set the tone for the entire stay. Your front desk staff was not only professional but also genuinely kind, making us feel valued and at home.
The concierge team has been incredibly helpful, and assisting with every request promptly and with a smile.
The housekeeping staff deserves special recognition for maintaining our room in immaculate condition. Every detail, from the perfectly made bed to the spotless bathroom, reflects your dedication to excellence. It’s clear that your team takes pride in creating a pristine and inviting environment for your guests (the cute towel artwork with the bath mats were memorable).
The dining experience has been exceptional as well. Your bakery section is nothing but stunning and perfect to say the least - I had to complain to the front desk because I'm having too much croissants.
What truly sets your hotel apart, however, is the genuine care and warmth demonstrated by every single team member. It’s rare to encounter such a cohesive and dedicated group of professionals who consistently exceed expectations. Your teamwork and commitment to guest satisfaction are truly commendable.
Thank you for making our stay so delightful and unforgettable. We will cherish the memories of our time here and look forward to returning in the future. You have set the gold standard for hospitality, and we are deeply grateful for your outstanding service. I would have loved to write down the names of every team member that I have encountered but it is my memory fails me.
Nothing beats Moroccan hospitality and you are the cherry on top.

Read moreWe stayed at the Grand Mogador City Center Hotel for four nights, and it proved to be the perfect base for our travels. Its location made it easy to join tours to Marrakech and Tangier, and to experience the breathtaking Hassan II Mosque.||As Diamond members, we were delighted to receive an upgrade to a stunning executive suite—so spacious it felt more like an apartment than a hotel room, truly fit for a king and queen.||The service was impeccable from start to finish. Every staff member we encountered went out of their way to assist with genuine warmth. The breakfast buffet is not to be missed, offering a wide variety of cuisines ranging from traditional Moroccan favorites to Mediterranean options. When we had early morning tours, the restaurant thoughtfully prepared “to-go” breakfast boxes for us. A special mention goes to the wonderful hostess, Meryem, whose friendliness and attentiveness made our mornings even more enjoyable.||For dining, the Oliviera restaurant is a gem—be sure to try the authentic Moroccan tagines, beautifully complemented by fragrant mint tea. The front desk was also very helpful in arranging taxis and even offering medical assistance if needed. We truly felt welcome, cared for, and valued throughout our stay.||If there’s one area for improvement, it would be the front desk phone service. While we had no trouble in person, our attempts to reach the front desk by phone from the US before our trip went unanswered despite trying at different hours. Improving responsiveness on international calls would make the overall experience even better.||Overall, our stay was exceptional, and we are deeply grateful to the hotel team for making it...
