IBIS management seriously needs to look @ this hotel and the way of management/hospitality. Stay experience of this hotel overpowered the good image and treatment I had received at Ibis hotels in various other countries. Let me list out the flaws/ experiences.
I stayed here for 7 days for mandatory quarantine by govt approved hotel and maybe the reason for ill-treatment.
Staff is rude to the extremities, especially girls @ reception. they have no sense of customer service at all and misleading them with wrong info and are lethargic in getting a resolution of customer queries/problems. (When I wanted to see the duty manager, they started laughing and call the bartender posing him as in charge; when I asked them to give me the name of the manager to another lady, she gave me a name with an unknown script). all previous reviews about staff are 100% correct; please avoid this hotel if you selecting as Ibis brand.
Rooms weren't cleaned (see the attached photos are self-explanatory which taken at time of arrival).
Dirty linen which is quite old and with a unique odour (of course not the pleasant one)
No toiletries/towels in the bathroom at the time of check-in, though I was lucky enough to receive it after 2 hours which is cheap/disposable plastic cup+ soap+ shampoo). Again full marks for unhygienic, stained and dirtiness which is due to random cleaning, I guess once in a month at the best.
WiFi service is for namesake, I am writing this review with mobile internet. If you are lucky you can get hooked on to wifi with the limited speed with intermittent data transfer. the issue is not resolved so far.
Restaurant is best in the worst category, no one picks up call for hours when seeking reception Assitance answer is people are busy in making food & delivering. I have had 4 meals so far and none came as per order and moreover waiting of 2 to 3 hrs post order is standard and they pay no heed to follow up. (100$ award for hunting vegetables in vegetable pizza, refer to attached photo). 100% marks for the kitchen & stewards for having same pitilessness as of reception team.
This can be much long review but would like to curtail with the closing remark that folk, this is not standard Ibis hotel around the globe we seen it more like a youth hostel / modified dormitory or kinda cheap motel along the freeway (where they knew the customer will not appear again for sure).
Please avoid it, If you are one of many people @airport are being forced to take this hotel for institutional quarantine which #NITP #NCDC stipulates, please carry your own food, linen and wifi router as there won't be anyone to hear or help you from hotel staff and you will be at mercy of god.
God bless you; in case you end up here after reading all...
Read moreI was allocated a room on the 4th floor which is almost opposite the elevator on the 4th floor. I arrived/checked in around 6pm/7pm-ish after a 6hr flight and had to quickly dash to some other places. I believe I securely closed/locked the door of my allocated room before leaving (I usually double/triple check doors even in my house). Well, whilst on my journey to the other places, I felt something was off, hence told my driver to take me back to the hotel immediately.
On getting back to the hotel, took the lift to the 4th floor and behold pushed the door to my room (i.e. without using the provided access card), bam the door was unlocked. I subsequently checked my valuables and gladly nothing was missing. Tried to validate if it was an error on my path (i.e. not duly closing/locking the door properly). Nahhh, the door is broken. I immediately called the reception and told the lady about the saga who insisted its human error. Ok, the lady came upstairs to check and truly she acknowledged the door is broken. I requested a room change but she objected stating that I only booked for 1 night and she'll get maintenance to fix issue. Maintenance came to fix the lock, also fixed the chain lock behind the door and some other issues. I flagged (to the receptionist lady and maintenance guy) "These issues ought to have been fixed prior to admitting guests".
Well, I slept in the room with my security apparatuses well aligned behind the door and in the morning, I made further complaints (In person) to the young lad at the reception who didn't seem concerned and was like "Nothing I can do about that". I made him aware I was going to leave a reveiw, he wasn't concerned either.
Glad I only booked for 1 night, hence checked out that morning before 8am i.e. after the complimentary breakfast (Nice buffet breakfast though).
I have only stated my most pertinent concern above, though other issues were noted such as dated/not well maintained infrastructures, enhanced security, etc.
To the management, whilst I understand the efforts it takes to run a business anywhere in the world, especially in Nigeria, please take note of the pointers in here as it will...
Read moreHonestly, it's a total no from me. A little confusion with the front desk staff in terms of room availability . I booked two rooms and the cleanliness was fine in the rooms but as usual with most hotels in Nigeria that's 3 stars and under, after a while, things start to go downhill. The mildew smell from the air conditioning fills the room and is absorbed into the bed sheets. The bed is massively uncomfortable, rooms are quite small and need an update/overhaul, the carpets, well, if you can even call them that are dirty, the TV is tiny with about 4 English channels and about 12 French channels and unfortunately, I'm not French speaking. The bathroom is clean and standard, only two plugs in the room which are quite far from the bed. The hallway is dingy, elevator is quite dirty, the restaurant area needs a massive update, a lot of the food and drink we tried to order wasn't available and what we were able to order took a while to come. The window sills dirty and need redecorating. Flies was a constant problem, some staff quite unprofessional but not all, some were actually quite nice and helpful. Now with this being Nigeria, I have to understand that things won't be in line with the western world and you should pretty much drop off a star, but with a major French parent company behind this hotel, I expected slightly more. I honestly don't see the point of even writing this review as I've seen other guests mention some of the issues I've stated and nothing has changed. Don't let the Ibis name influence your choice. The only thing good about this hotel is the proximity to the Airport. I will never...
