Has a nice atmosphere and friendly employees. What made us choose this hotel and take this route on our trip was because canines are allowed. + Every year we drive to southern norway, but because of children we need a place to sleep. So we were looking for our goto place for sleep twice a year for the next 15 years. But we came once and we will never return. The night was horrible. Thin walls, can hear the neighbours breathing. There was alot of banging noise. Close resemblance to sleeping at a mechanics workshop. Our room was located right above the sauna, which heats up our room. We turned off the ovens, the floor heating, even the refridgerator because it too produces heat. The windows were fully opened to allow all of the nighttime sunlight inside and some fresh air. Outside was a nice cool 6°, inside our room a sweltering 26°. The only way to make the room livable with some cross breeze was to open the door into the hallway. which would allow people to watch us sleeping. The window is next to the parking lot so there too would be peepers. But, we'd rather open the window and curtains allowing passersby to glimpse into our privacy than to wake up as raisins. The sauna is on all day and "allegedly" shuts down at 9pm. My 8 month old son bedtime is 7pm. But he, as his parents and even the furry companion struggled with slumber. A total of 4 hours of sleep from 2100-0700. Lots of baby crying, problem fixing by jerry rigging the window with door jammers, towels to block sight, fan to circulate the arid air. We imagined an idyllic sleepover ontop of the cold and vast norwegian mountain range with the fresh arctic breeze.. but the whole endeavor brought me right back to the scorching heat of the peruvian jungles. At 03:30 i thought it was best to just check out and drive the last 5 hours of our journey than to endure the rest of the night, i looked over at my girlfriend and she had already thought of it and was checking google maps for route and traveltime to our destination. Too tired to do anything so we tried to sleep some more. The food was ok, we were the first to the dinner which cost 449 nok for food which obviously has been cooked several hours ago. The potatoes were tough, meat was dry and leather like at the edges from being heated for 4-5 hours. The hotel obviously lacks capacity to serve regular menus to the guests so they serve old buffets for a blood price. Needless to say, After this night we were the first one to attend the breakfast. The eggs were slimy, desserts purchased from regular grocery stores And the apple juice spout was obviously unclean as it deposited a large chunk of mould into my cup. The butter which is served is hard, rips up your bread when tried to spread. I could probably have built my house's foundation from those butter bricks. No wonder why there were so many toothless residents. Rest of the food i tasted was decent. After complaining at 8:30pm, we were offered a room in the damp basement. Our son had finally fallen asleep after a long struggle, unpacked several bags of female baggage, groceries, our dog and his luggage. Needless to say, relocation was out of the question unless the employees carry our luggage. We were however offered a football sized fan to alleviate our torment. At checkout we were not offered any discount, only offer was and i quote "if you come back then we could maybe try to help". Final price 3,200kr for 1 sleepless night and mediocre...
Read moreWe booked Hotel this time and went for the Radisson Experience. Nice overall with terrific views from the dining area for breakfast and evening meals. Here they got it "spot on" as it makes your day starting with fantastic panoramas and overall satisfying food (we did not go to hotel to endeavor in fine dining as we went for the skiing), with the exception of one important thing - COFFEE! The 2 machines look modern and the display on machines indicates different types of coffees, but the produce is way below par, in fact poor. It should be a simple and mandatory task of filling those machine with decent coffee as this is important to many of us and also expected when you visit the Radisson brand. In my view I think it was instant coffee they served in both machines, if so this is something you should consider looking to upgrade as this will not break the bank and guests will appreciate this tremendously (pls do so). Apologies if it is not instant coffee.|Staff is friendly as you would expect from rural locals as opposed to stuck up city professionals, but pls be able to answer questions like how the charging of vehicle works and not advise me to go and find this out for myself. Its your hotel and you should be able to answer this. The breakfast staff in particular was very nice and attentive to the needs of guests by always making sure their unwanted food is taken away in a discrete manner - nice one! The Manager/director also enjoys building report and talking to his guests. Although this is not for me I think its very good gesture to make guests feel appreciated, so all in all the manager/owner gives impression that he has his guests well being on the agenda (he gets top marks for this - keep it up and thank you). Fire place area in the vestibule/lounge stands out as a cosy and nice place to rest, warm your bones and take in the resort experience over a cuppa - Nice one!|We stayed for 5 days with kids and you would expect that the sheets would be changed, but they did not, so I had to go and ask and in the end semi demand if they could do this . In the end they did ,but made me feel like I had to act in a less than polite person by being stern. Hopefully Hotel management could revise this practice as parents are happy when their kids are happy and at least my kids felt beds were a bit "iffy"after 3-4 days in that room without sheets not changed. When they finally changed the sheets it was all good. Thank you for this as this energized my kids for next day in the slopes!|To sum up....I would visit again, but if not improved on the little things I would seek alternative accommodation. |I'll try to get booking in early for next year as there were only a small room available this time due to short notice booking on our part.||Its not easy to run a hotel, but you will earn loyalty if you try to listen and improve on customers feedback. Thank you for having us at Beitostølen | Radisson Blu and keep up the good...
Read moreWe are currently on our 4th night here, we booked this hotel through Crystal Ski who made this whole experience very easy. At Oslo airport, our travel rep arrived and handed us our ski rental voucher, our hotel room key and our lift pass. On arrival to the hotel, there was nothing to do except head up to the room which was wonderful after such a long day of travel. ||The room: the room has two twin beds, a desk, a small fridge, a boot room and clothing storage, a tv, a kettle, a small box of tea bags, Instant coffee and the such. 3 chairs and a very large window (we had a view of the mountains and lake to the south). The bathroom is clean, modern and has a walk in shower, the water gets all over the floor but it also drains well and dries quickly. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap are provided (small bottles of course). And fresh towels are changed twice weekly to help the impact on the environment. The walls can be a little thin and we could hear the neighbours TV on evenings but this stopped before an unreasonable hour. ||Gym/Sauna: the pool is a great size but sadly I found it was too cold to swim in, I tried using the sauna first but it was still too cold for me. Locker rooms are clean and plenty of space, showers available and each one has a sauna (men’s and women’s are separate). Gym has enough machines to keep you working out and the treadmill worked well. There is also a communal games room downstairs however the pool table seemed to charge us but then didn’t release the balls, for the sake of £2 we couldn’t be bothered to chase this. ||Restaurant: the buffet breakfast was continental and looked fresh daily. The smoothies were delicious and the blueberry muffins were an absolute treat. The only thing holding this back is that it is the same meals every day but I understand that is much easier when catering for many guests. The restaurant wasn’t open every night due to low levels of customers this week but I believe they provided meals from other restaurants for those who paid for half board. There is also a Starbucks machine in the corner of reception.||The staff: everyone here (and on the slopes, in the shops and restaurants) are probably the nicest people on earth. Norwegian people are so friendly and helpful. When learning to ski as adult, it can be scary but the friendly faces around and the comforting comments we received made us feel so truly welcomed.||Location: Easy storage for skis (either lockers or in a locked room using door key). 50metres from the chair lift, we walked over in ski boots without issue. Perfectly located for this quaint little town. ||WiFi can be spotty, it’s free for all so at peak times it definitely kicks you off a lot and requires a few reconnections through the days. ||I wish we had stayed in a room with a kitchenette because the ready made food at the spa doesn’t offer much from a healthy point of view. With a warmer pool and better wifi this would have absolutely...
