DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL EVEN IF OFFERED FOR FREE. ||GET HELL OUT AS SWARMING WITH COCKROACHES. Spent 1-night only.||PLACE SHOULD BE CLOSED-DOWN. ||||On arrival, this Hell-hole is located up steep stairs above a smelly, greasy so -called "Indian" restaurant. After check-in, my child (teenager) pointed to me quietly to look down at floor, there was the Mother, I mean Mother-giant Cockroach walking casually across the floor. I should've stamped on it there and then. ||We were given a horrible room upstairs which had a front facing view and the noise doesn't stop till midnight. My child suffered and he couldn't sleep having seen that fat Cockroach, so he only got 2-hrs sleep. TORTURE for him and for us.||||Surrounded by dirty, unclean "Indian" restaurants run by Nepalese people. I wouldn't eat in the local street outside, as I believe this is where the Cockroaches are getting their food source from in the first place. ||Couldn't have wash or shower, as full of Ants in bath tub. Frightened to touch anything in the place.||To top it of, hardly any electrical sockets, light switches in weird places so left mobile dangling from wall. DANGEROUS and could've easily broken my phone if it fell off.||||Needs to be reported to Lisbon City authorities, as makes Norman "BATES MOTEL" seem a pleasure compared to this "hole."||NEVER EVER EVER STAY HERE AGAIN. Hope the authorities shut the place down and fumigate all the dirty pests in the vicinity.||I should've demanded a full refund...
Read moreAs I was travelling with my 10 year old son, I didn't want a hostel. This was advertised as a hotel and wasn't cheap, £300 approx for 2 nights. After finally climbing the stairs to the 4th floor and arriving in room 201, I was far from happy, our booking clearly showed our names and ages, but we were put in a room with a double bed, much to my sons horror! The light above the bed didn't work and only one of the two lights in the bathroom worked intermittently, which was the one hanging off the wall by the wires. Thankfully the bed was clean. The daylight showed the dirty stains on the wall. In the shower there was a socket with wires hanging out, I don't know if it was live or not and to be honest didn't find out!! The shower was covered in mould and mildew....... Horrid! There was no safe deposit box either in the room or in the reception area, which meant I had to carry our passports on money around with us all the time, which is not ideal.||I didn't complain at the time as the 'hotel' was full and Lisbon was full to capacity as it was Champions League Final weekend, which is why we were there (my wife had a look for alternative accommodation, which was in the region of £3,000 per night as only the best hotels were left)||Had I of wanted a hostel or was with my mates I would have roughed it and booked one of the 11euros a night ones.||The only plus for this hostel is it's location for the sights||Very...
Read moreWe booked a double private room with a private bathroom at this location for three nights. It is in a very central location on a very busy pedestrian street. The entire property is very low quality. Our television didn't work, two out of the four lights in the room did not work, material was falling down from the ceiling in the shower. In addition, there are no safes in the rooms or at the front desk, and the locks on the door are very flimsy and could be easily broken. We did not feel comfortable leaving our valuables here. The rooms were clean but everything was old and worn, and despite what any reviews or booking sites claim, THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING. ||||However, the worst part of our experience here at Pensao Modelo was the noise. It was louder outside our room at 3 am than it was at any point during daylight hours. Garbage collection trucks, people yelling and breaking glass, kids skateboarding down the street. It was absolutely horrible. We had stayed out decently late but by the time it rolled around to 2:30- 3:00 am, we were ready to go to sleep and it was absolutely impossible. We checked out after the first night and moved to a new property and we are so...
