This place is more like a hostel. We went as a family with a baby and had a good experience. We would go back again. The highlights: -Our room had a terrace with such a wonderful view to the green hills and the as baby-safe. -The breakfast was good. -There’s a common terrace that is nice to spend some time sun bathing. -The location is perfect to be explore the southern area of Gerês, with plenty of secular forest and refreshing waterfalls, up until the border with Spain. -It’s near all the services and supermarkets. One can go walking a bit count with an uphill come back. -There’s a spacious free parking lot, -There’s a kitchen where the guests can cook, -Mostly the spaces were well cleaned, -The place is mostly run by volunteers, who were in general kind and made us feel welcome and comfortable.

On the downside, we point out some aspects that have room for improvement: -the mattress was a bit wasted, -breakfast items like scrambled eggs would be finished in half an hour and wouldn’t serve more, -some equipments are worn out and need replacement, -we never met the couple that supposedly runs the place, according to Airbnb, which is as weird because it came across like a family run business, -the kitchen for the guests should have some more pans and cutlery. Anyway the volunteers provided anything we needed to cook soup...

I stayed two nights at nations-geres at the beginning of december (in the off season). They had a shared kitchen with a stove, refrigerator and sink as well as complimentary coffee and tea. We were able to go to a store nearby for some supplies. The location is close to great hiking and accessible by car. Our room and the common spaces had an excellent view. The people working there were kind. It was really cold because of the winter and the heater was really small, but there was plenty of blankets available and the amenities more than made up for that - this place was a great value, cozy, and was perfect for what we wanted. I hope I can go back one day for another getaway in...

This place functions more like a hostel but we very much enjoyed it. The staff is helpful and kind. The breakfast offers a variety of good foods including delicious pancakes. During the day you can order some food as well, we enjoyed their burgers. They also offer a communal kitchen for everyone so you’re welcome to bring your own food. This place has a lovely cozy atmosphere and a spectacular view. The rooms are a bit old school but perfectly fine. There is basically no heating so it may get a little cold during the nights.
